So about 2 hours ago my husband and I sat down to lunch and were watching the noon news cast. Suddenly they announce lay off/ job closings for Harley Davidson. My husband looks over and tells me everything is ok because he has not heard anything. Well after commercials they announce which sites are closing and one is the one he works at. So he is scheduled for 2nd shift today, I assume they'll be telling him and the other employees the news. I just wish we had known before being blindsided by the news. It really has not sunk in yet.:stone At least I know we will be ok but I feel so bad for those who won't be ok.

Oh my. I am sorry Melinurse.
My dad had his job end before all this even and is now living with my sister. Thats rough.
Hope your husband finds something to at least keep the boat afloat while we try to wait out this time period.

How terrible to have to hear that from the News first... the least they could have done is given him some warning.

This happened to a lot of employees from Lehman as well. It's sad when employees find out from the news versus their employer. It shouldn't go down that way.
Have your husband file for unemployment immediately if he is indeed let go even if he gets severence. Get it on file ASAP.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that he while be transferred to another site or get a job immediately. Hugs to all.
I'm just most upset with the no warning. As we watched the news he said he would be ok because they were not planning to shut his site.....and then they named his site. I told him he could stay at home and I'd take care of the bills and stuff but he is very proud and would prefer to be " the breadwinner ". So I said I was here for support and I'd update his resume for him. Thanks so much for all the well wishes, much appreciated.

When I got laid off, I heard the news from the other person who got laid off, so I know how he must feel. Best wishes that he comes out of this ok.

Oh, man, that bites.
I sweated it all weekend wondering if I'd still have my job Monday - layoffs were announced. I made it.
*sigh*
Hang in there.
