Congrats on your offer as well. Centennials big benefit that others don't offer is loan repayment to pay off current student loans. It's an HCA thing, so all TriStar hospitals offer it as they're all operated by HCA. It is $150/mo. HCA also offers tuition reimbursement as most hospital do, in order to further your education. HCA offers $5,250 a year for tuition reimbursement.

Tuition reimbursement is where, to my knowledge, Vandy has them beat. According to their website, you can take one three unit course, three times per year that they will pay for. At $1,640 per unit, that's about $15,000 per year. I could be wrong with this so you might want to call and ask. But everyone has told me if you plan to further your education, Vandy is worth considering for an employer because they have the best benefits in that area. I don't plan on going back any time soon so that's not a big deal for me.

Another big consideration for me is at Centennial, there is no ER techs, the nurses do everything. Whereas at most other hospitals, Vanderbilt included, they have ER Techs and Paramedics to help out.

Hope that helps some.

Thank you so much for that information! The $150/month sure would help as far as paying off loans and may be worth more than 's educational benefits.

Congratulations on accepting the other offer! If I end up accepting Vandys I'd love to talk about possibly rooming together

So I've decided to turn down my offer at Vanderbilt and go with another area offer in the ED that I received. I'll be looking to move from California to East Nashville area late June/early July. If anyone is moving to the area and going to be looking for a roommate, please shoot a message, would be nice to room with another nurse resident!

WOW!, congrats! Did you end up going with Centennial? Or a different hospital?

I interviewed for the MICU today! They said they would let us know by Friday, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Congrats on everyone with their interviews and offers. Can any of you recall the questions they asked during the interview. Mine isn't until March 30th for NICU and I'm wondering if they are asking the same general questions for all new grads or more specific questions relating to the unit you're interviewing for.

For all of you who have interviewed, did you send a thank you email after your interview or anything?

I did! I did not have the contact information for the people I was interviewed by, so I just emailed Tracey Fargo and asked her to give them my thanks.

I went with a different hospital a little outside of Nashville that I was really impressed with, gave me a nice offer, and felt I'd get the best overall experience at.

Did they tell you how many nurse residents they are hiring for the MICU?

Hey I interviewed for Mom/Baby OB and the only question I was asked regarding the unit was why I chose that track! I looked up behavioral nursing interview questions and did fine!
