How are they going to re-evaluate the pay? That’s kinda crazy if you take a job then your pay is drastically potentially cut? Either way, I am glad I even made it in and was offered a job at the VA. Not the best pay but I will have to have 2 jobs to make ends meet.

hello! I was just told I got the job as a pact nurse. I have a MSN in nursing education, with 10 years RN and 13 years LPN experience. I was a medic in the guard for aout 10 years. Did you start as step 3? Did they ever increase you to a better rate? Do you like working for the VA. So far I am very excited!
Thank you!

Now that I have accepted the offer let me post the time line
Mid-April- Applied a few days before rolling review started
April- 27th- received email to schedule interview. Due to the subject line of the email being very generic, I did not see this email until June. I honestly thought it was a locums tenums company reaching out.
June-19th- virtual panel interview with 3 people
July 21st- tentative job offer
Mid-august- completed everything from physical, nine dimensions, vetpro, and on boarding paperwork
September 28th- verbal final offer given for nurse 3 step 6. HR rep states retention bonus offered with position and she needs to clarify. Meanwhile I'm going out on FMLA at my current job so start date cannot be until January 2021
November 19- electronic final offer sent and accepted by me
Expected board date January 19, 2021!

Hello,
I am currently at the phase where I have to fill out the NPSB requirements. I was sent a self assessment tool for experienced nurses, where am to address the 9 nurse qualification standards. I am at a loss on how to start. Can anyone direct me to somewhere can find an example or sendme an example?? [email protected] Do I write an example for each standard? The self assessment tool has it lumped into 4 areas. Any help would be appreciated! Little background, LVN for 5 yrs, RN for 7, BSN.

Long process! Hope this helps!
Thank you! I'm in the midst of the process, if course the week I got my tentative offer I also found out I needed back surgery. Thankfully it sounds like they will still take me after I'm cleared. Did you get a decent offer salary wise? I won't hear anything for 6 weeks when I'm cleared from surgery. Congrats!!
Offer was decent. I took a slight paycut from my current salary. But to have every weekend off, every holiday off, 26 days of VAC and 13 days of sick time is pretty priceless. Plus, the retirement benefits can't be beat. So, I was OK w/ taking the slight paycut. My advice is to just stay in close contact w/ your HR rep (the person who sent the tentative offer). My HR rep was very good. She kept me posted at all times and immediately answered every email I sent her. Best of luck!
Thank you! And enjoy!

If you're on the fast-track system, weeks. If you're not fast-tracked, then forever and a day...
