Hey guys, for those of you that were offered an "expedited hiring" d/t COVID, did you guys get a TEMPORARY position that will turn into a PERMANENT position after one year? Or did you get a permanent position from the getgo?
Thanks!
I don't know if you are still on allnurses, but how is this working out? I was offered a 13-month temporary position and I am almost done with vetpro (and the expedited stuff). setting up the physical exam next. are you enjoying the VA? do you think you will be able to transition to permanent? Are your health insurance premiums in line with https://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/healthcare/plan-information/plans/premiums/2020/hmo/non-postal

I am currently going through the VA hiring process and in the credentialing phase. Has anyone run into issues during credentialing process? If so, what were they and how were they fixed?
Yeah, I've run into issues. I emailed vetpro and it took them a week to respond. I haven't tried their "fix" but I'm not really optimistic, but we'll see.
Update
Finished credentialing today, took less than 2 weeks.
Just waiting for EQUIP/Background, which I don't think will be too much of a hurdle due to the fact I held multiple security clearances with the US Government and its the same system, so it will just be an update, I hope.
Its been just over a month since I interviewed.

I really want a M-F job but I have a pension and I am not sure that the FERS would be comparable to what I would receive for my pension (considering I only want to work for another 10-11 years). I looked online but the explanations are confusing - does anyone know of any websites that are easier to understand?
Thanks in advance!!
Pay rate is typically decided when you are boarded. This happens a few steps into the process once selected.
As far as retirement the VA is a 3 tier system. Retirement pay is a combination of:
1)Social security(if still around)
2) A multiplier for how many years of service within the VA (ex 10yrs = .10), and your high 3 salary years. Multiplied by either 1 or 1.1 depending on age/time in.
3) Thrift Saving Plan/403B they match up to 4% and have a Roth option as well.
I’ve been a VA nurse my whole career feel free to ask any questions!
Hi all,
I applied at the Philly VA July 2019 for their PACT TEAM RN. Was Referred 3 weeks later and August 2019 received an email I am a top candidate and am still referred. That was over a year and I have yet to interview or hear from anyone, even though my application still says "Referred". I've emailed the contact person in HR multiple times and they never replied back.
I applied again for community center nurse job in Dec and have heard nothing yet.
My background is in school nursing with the special needs population and children who are medically complex.
Not sure what's up with Philly. If anyone else has applied to the Philly VA recently and you have some tips or advice I'd love some assistance. Thanks all! ??

I completed my physical/urine Drug/finger prints/Vetpro/eqip all over 4 weeks ago and was told that the VA nursing board would review my packet last Thursday. I am waiting on a salary offer and start date .... it’s been a long process, but I’m sure it will be worth it. Fingers crossed for you!
Can you tell me how detailed the physical is? I have to have back surgery in December, but will be recovered by the time I start. ( just a microdiskectomy, so not too involved) Will this hurt me as far as my acceptance. I told them I would like to start in like February, so not the faster covid processing.
Thanks!

I'm just beginning the process. I'm trying to transfer from per diem float nurse to the travel nurse corps. I still have to complete the entire process. I'm just writing out my answers to the screening interview questions.
