UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

My application said incomplete up until I was accepted because I have classes in progress. You're saying, however, that yours is incomplete because you haven't submitted proof for TSI? I would definitely try to make sure that you send them that proof ASAP because TSI is a basic requirement that you must have fulfilled to be accepted. You should try calling them to make sure that they know too.

Ok I plan on doing that first thing torrow! Thanks!

CristinaL..... thank you so much .:redpinkhe

Has anyone completed their background check or drug screening? I just read on the UTMB website:

  • Policy for Criminal Background Checks UTMB has designated PreCheck to conduct the criminal background screening. Results from any other company will not be accepted. When selecting your school, you should select the entry titled “University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing”. You must pay for the background screen by credit card at the time you complete the form. Please note: Students should not discuss their criminal history with faculty or classmates as this information is considered confidential.

  • Policy for Drug Screening
UTMB SON has designated PreCheck to conduct drug testing for all new students. When selecting your school and program, you should select the entry titled
“University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing Drug Screen Only”. When you have submitted your personal information and method of payment, you can enter your Zip code to locate the nearest testing facility.

Has anyone done this yet or know how it works?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I just got my interview email!! Yea:yeah::anpom:Anyone who had interviews this week or last could you add any interview topics that may have not been mentioned? Thanks, I just want to be prepared for everything and try not to be so nervous.

@barb24 and punkydoodles, the same thing happened to me. I was just waiting and waiting and then when I saw people on here getting interviews I called and only then did I find out that they did not get my scores! So after a few phone calls and alot of frustration I had to send the copy before they would look at my app. The point is follow up, follow up, follow up and just make sure you get a confirmation from anyone you think will or should be receiving any of your stuff.

Who did you talk to Sheena? I'm going to be doing a lot of calling tomorrow...

Hi all,

If you go back a few pages, you'll read where some people have talked about the interview process. It's very laid back, don't be nervous! You're basically going to have a simple conversation with your interviewer. The basics 'why do you want to be a nurse' etc, questions are asked.

Good luck! :)

Hi ChristinaL, I spoke to EB and whoever answered the phone because a few times she was out but I also called ATI

Thanks Erica, have you interviewed? How long did it last? and what did you wear if you did interview?

@Sheena - Yep, I interviewed Thursday 10/6. I actually got there 30 minutes early, which I'm glad I did because I was extremely nervous beforehand and that extra 30 minutes gave me time to find the room, sit down, and talk to the other interviewees and just overall, calm my nerves. By the time I got called back, I was much better lol. The actual interview lasted about 30 minutes. I wore a suit, low heels, and my hair back. Normal business interview attire. There were others in slacks and a nice blouse, and even some in dresses, so I would just wear whatever business attire you feel comfortable in.

Hope this helps! And, again, best of luck!

Thanks again Erica421, I went back a few pages, well alot of pages lol, and found some. Thanks for all your help. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it goes well and I hear back as quickly as some of you all are :)

Has anyone heard of Chamberlain in Houston or have any info on it?
