UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

I have sent in my application, taken the TEAS and today ordered my offical transcripts to be sent. My only question is, while I did the personal statement in the application, where do we send/where is information about recommendation letters??

We don't need recommendation letters for the traditional bsn program. I have also asked if we need any proof towards our community services and they told me no. You can still double check with the pre admission counselor. Her email is listed on the website.

Hi guys! I plan on applying for Spring 2012 too! I am finishing up some of the 40 of the 60 prereqs we are suppose to have so I will not be able to send in my application until the second week of May. Waiting til almost the last minute kind of makes me nervous but I don't really have a choice :/

I am also going to be taking the TEAS mid-May as well since that is the only time I will have to drive to Houston to take the test. I looked at the application that was through UTMB and I was kind of confused. I didn't see anywhere to put the things like your GPA and school accomplishments and volunteer stuff. Am I looking at the wrong thing or is there a second application that you do after you fill in the first thing and pay?

I'm glad this thread was started because it will be nice to be able to talk to other people going through this process!

from what i know, you don't put in your gpa..i think that the admission committee will look at your transcripts and calculate it for you. correct me if i am wrong. i know for sure that we don't have a place to list our community services/school accomplishments. it's something you should include in your personal statement. btw: what school are you coming from and i wish you the best with your teas!

Hey guys I was wondering what range does your GPA and TEAS scores fall in?

Thanks for the information! I am coming from Lamar Univerisity. How about you? And thanks so much for the good luck on my TEAS. I am a little nervous about it! For those of you who have taken it, how was it? I bought the study guide but between anatomy and physiology and chemistry on top of my other classes I haven't really gotten around to reviewing for it yet.

I will be applying pretty soon, but won't get my transcripts in until this semester is over so that I can show my A's in micro and anatomy 2. I have to use everything I can get since I goofed my grades straight out of high school. Now, 5 years later all my withdrawls and C's are haunting me. I am hoping my statement will help me in that I am older, more mature, and am serious about nursing.

I will be taking my teas at the end of May to give myself some time to be sure I am prepared. I have heard its pretty hairy.... and I'm super nervous about it since i am needing a high score to help compensate for my gpa.

Anyone who has taken the teas already and has the prep book for sale or to borrow, please pm me!

I am currently at san jacinto and have almost all 60 hours. I will be taking my last 2 classes I need this summer.

I am taking my TEAS on May 27. I was wondering...do we get the scores immediately and do they go to UTMB right away? I wanted to make sure since that is close to the deadline.

hey i took the teas last month and did pretty well on it. i actually did really well on the science and math and not so well with my english and reading (weird, huh?) it just depends on your test version. lots of people say that the science is hard and time is not enough on the math, but it was the complete opposite for me. time was not enough for me on the reading and by the time i got to the english i was tired so i guess that's what hurt me there. i think the book does a really good job with the math and the science is ok. i recalled most of my science from my anatomy classes. my gpa is pretty good, but i have some low grades from my advanced science classes (i hope they don't focus too much on that).

as for the scores, you do get them right away. i'm not sure on when utmb gets it, but you can try calling a week later to see if they got it.

you can also send in transcripts now and resend them after the semester is over. it's a safer call in case your final transcripts don't reach utmb.

EmilyR did you buy the practice book? I am interested if you are willing to sell or let me borrow it.

What will you be doing during the fall 2011 semester since you will have all your classes done by the end of summer? Do we have to have classes done by the summer for Spring 2012?
