Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
Hello Everyone,
I'am also in the process of applying to UTMB for the Spring 2012 BSN program. I took the Teas test this morning and scored a 64% and im not happy about it, but at least my application can move forward. I plan on taking it again before the deadline which is fast approaching: June 15, 2011. TWU only lets it's applicants test once and they require 64%. I have a overall GPA od 3.54 and is finished with all Nursing Pre-Req's required for admission. I'am also applying to UT-Houston, TWU, PV, and Lamar University. I'm wishing everybody good luck!!!!!!!:yeah:UTMB let's you test as often as you like to achieve the score you feel comfortable with!
Well I took my TEAS test yesterday and I scored a 64% as well. I'm okay with that, as applying to UTMB you only need a 58% score. My GPA is not that good, but it is good enough, but I still have decided to wait because being that they get so many applicants a semester, and only select a few, my chances are not that great. And as far as studying for the TEAS, you really can't study I think, because everything is so random, you have no idea what to expect. All I have to say is don't waste time studying for the Math part, that was a piece of cake! As long as you know the basics you shall be fine. As far as the Science part is concerned, there was a crap load of Chemistry on mine, and being that I haven't tooken Chemistry, saving that for this Summer semester, I was screwed. Everything on the science part was greek to me, and I studied the Science part extra, so I guess it just depends on the person who is taking the test, but other than that the TEAS was a simple test.
And as far as the testing center I went to, I was not too happy with it. First of it says you can't bring anything with you not even your purse, so I didn't, I just brought my car keys. Every person in there brought their book bags, purses, and their own scratch paper. Cell phones were vibrating alot, and some went off several times. It was so distracting. Eventhough they had headphones, it was no help. Horrible testing center.

Thanks for the insight on the testing center. Do they provide you with scratch paper and pencils or should I just bring mine? I also have not taken science classes in a while! I am super nervous. I take mine on the 26th. Was the test done on computer? Could you skip around and come back to the question again? What about timing? I am really nervous to run out of time on the sections. Thanks for any help/advice and good luck to everyone!
They provide you with the paper and pencil. It's done on a computer and to be honest I had plenty of time to finish! I guess it really depends on your on pace. I wouldn't worry too much about timing. And as far as going back to a question I think you can as long as it's in that particular section, because there is an option that says back and next, so I'm pretty sure you can go back, I never tried it so don't take my word on it.

Hey thanks for the information. I think my test is 1-5 pm. Can you leave early if you finish before that?
Okay so here is what happened with me, I live pretty far and my test was at 9:30am. I got there way to early and sat out in my car. I went inside at 9am and there were people already taking the test, so you can go in there at any time before your test starts. And you can leave as soon as your done. I left at 11:30am
I took my TEAS this past Friday. I studied for three weeks solid before I finally took the test! Just for everyone's information, the study guide that ATI published was definitely worth purchasing. It helped a lot and the review was fairly thorough. I felt like the online practice test was way harder but it did help to know what to expect with format.
I turned in my application and sent in my transcript. All I received was the email that said correspondence would be forthcoming in 3-5 business days. Is the correspondence going to include our login information or anything to check the status? I heard we were suppose to get that sometime soon after turning in our app. Has anyone received anything like that?

good to know. i was going to wait until 1 to leave my house, but i may drive out around 11am if that is the case....i want to get it over with and would prefer to not drive all the way back home in rush hour traffic.... i cannot understand why the testing center for gtown is all the way in west houston!!!

would you mind sharing your teas score and your gpa??? i do believe that your user and password for something called mystar...or something like that will be in that correspondance and it will be where you check your status....

I have been told that applications are reviewed as they come in. Whether or not they make any concrete decisions before all apps are in? I doubt it. They have an "early enrollment" that is an easy ticket and doesn't involve the entire process but its super strick!
I take my TEAS on the 24th and am hoping for a really good score! I just got my final grades for Spring and it didn't get my GPA where I need it...Minimum to apply is 2.75 overall and I only have a 2.98!!! I gotta get a good grade on my TEAS and write a killer personal statement! Otherwise..Im screwed!
