UTMB Spring 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

In the Army we had these things. Supposedly they were close to $150,000 each... the military is serious about their medical training. It's probably some of the best in the world.

A big difference would probably be that they turned the heat on to 115 in the lab, shut the lights out so we had to use red flashlights to do our sticks and had blaring battle sounds with things exploding everywhere and bullets whizzing overhead forcing us to lay on our bellies to provide care.

Totally different world! The mannequins are unreal though... very cool.

I was trained at Ft. Sam as well :D - SAME mannequins, but TOTALLY different environment. It's quiet, bright, and the floors don't shake :yeah::yeah::yeah:

I went to an open house in May. We weren't shown the sim lab :( We did a quick tour that was pretty much limited to walking around campus for about 15 minutes and looking around from the outside.

Whomp whomp. Well, if anything maybe it'll give me a chance to speak with Dora about interviews etc. That way we can get a better idea of their realistic time goals for interviews/acceptance instead of "next week" lol

Emailed yesterday asking if they knew when acceptance letters might be sent out for the first batch of interviewees and if they could tell me how many of those that got interviews were invited to the program... Haven't heard anything back yet :-(

Anyone know anything about school loans? In particular, what I read was that the max you could get was $12,500/year through subsidzed and unsubsidized... Are there other loans besides bank loans for living expenses?

I certainly HOPE that is not the max for loans!!! That will only cover schola and books! NOTHING else! Eek!!!!

My total for 2011-2012, for both sub and unsub, was 12,500.

Hi everyone! I was just wondering if anyone was in the same position as me.

I applied to the BACC2 program and received an email yesterday that I was not accepted. However, I am scheduled for an interview next Thursday for the traditional BSN program. Is anyone else in the same position? I am a little nervous because after reading the posts on here, I realize that it seems most people have already had their interviews for the BSN program. Is anyone still waiting on interviews? I wonder if it is bad to interview so late...?

As far as I can tell there's only been one round of interviews so far... I've heard of some that were going for bacc, but instead chose the traditional route. I don't think it's bad at all. Did you interview for bacc?

I applied for Bacc2 and received an interview invite yesterday. It is scheduled for Thursday, but I won't know the time until Monday. The email did not say anything about not being accepted, or about the traditional BSN.

I'm so nervous about this coming week!! I've kept it under control this far but tidy my anxiousness is pretty intense!!!
