Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

So I emailed the person that told me exactly when the first invites went out. She told me that the next round will be out by Monday.

True test of patience here! It's frustrating to hear everything getting pushed further back especially when were all on edge. If they needed help down there all they had to do was ask lol. Well 4 o'clock is in a couple of hours lets see if anybody hears anything good luck everyone!:confused:

You won't know your FA or FAFSA info until after you have been enrolled for classes, which for us, was about 4 days before class started. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: I didn't get any FA from FAFSA since my parents make too much (BTW, UTMB requires you to submit your parent's tax info, even if you're 30 and have two kids of your own and have filled independently for 8 years!!!) I qualified for loans only :crying2::crying2: I think many of my classmates would tell you that the FA/Loans part was way more stressful that then application process. :confused:

Should we go ahead and begin to FA process? I've been getting the PELL and a couple other scholarships at my current community college, does this mean I will probably apply only for (and receive only) loans? Which is fine, I'm just curious about the process never having applied for them before...

If the invites are going out Monday, does that mean the committee has met (or will meet this week)? And, does that mean, if they've already met, that acceptance letters could go out this week too?

How long does it take after your accepted to file for and get a response back from FAFSA? I won't be able to attend wthout assisstance in either financial aid or loans...Since its already basically October and don't even know if I have an interview.... I am getting worried. Esp since School starts the first week in January! That only really leaves 2 months if I get in! Anyone do this before??

FASFA has always had a relatively quick turnaround for me... However, I always do mine early--like 4-6 months in advance... I'm confused if we even need to do one for UTMB if they won't consider it without my parents income?

Don't y'all think they would review all applications and complete all interviews before they start sending acceptance letters? It seems to me that those would still be far off in the future...

You would think that would be the case as I tihnk that would be the most fair way to do it, but unfortunately, from what I have been told, they accept people from each cluster of interviews then go onto the next batch of interviews.

Hopefully I outshine my group of apps that mine is clustered in and then outshine my cluster of applicants in an interview...there is a tiny bit of luck in there....if I get clustered in a really fantastic group of applicants it could potentailly work against me though....

Common sense would tell you that this is how the process works, but you will soon figure out that 'common sense' is not very rampant at UTMB (dealing with another mess with them right now!!)

They do the interviews and send acceptances out in batches. The only thing they send out at the end of the process is the 'you suck' letters - that's what we called them in our thread. :uhoh3:
