Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
Can I just say that this is super duper frustrating!!! I want in soooo badly! Not to mention that as soon as I find out whether I am in or out, I get to book my next vacation so it makes it EVEN worse!!!Ugh...
I've got the same problem! I just know i'm going to be on edge all day tomorrow.
Yes, get it done now. And FYI, even if you've had all three hepB shots, you will still be required to get a titer drawn, so just be aware of that. So, start series now, so that you can have titer drawn before clinicals and you're all squared away and have a few less things to worry about!!And PLEASE, make sure that your CPR is AHA BLS - we had several students that had to pay to take a second course because their's was not from the AHA.
YAY! I got my titers already!! Couldn't get my shot record, so did this last semester... I need to check on the CPR certs though... Not sure about that one...
Keeping my fingers crossed that some of our acceptances and invites slip through this week!!:yeah:
:yeah:
Hi everyone! I emailed Ms.Dora Turner and asked her about when the second batch of interviews would be sent out and she replied back saying next week! I don't know if someone already posted this information but I just wanted to share it with yall just in case to ease SOME nerves! :) hoping for the best for everyone!! :)
How long does it take after your accepted to file for and get a response back from FAFSA? I won't be able to attend wthout assisstance in either financial aid or loans...Since its already basically October and don't even know if I have an interview.... I am getting worried. Esp since School starts the first week in January! That only really leaves 2 months if I get in! Anyone do this before??

You won't know your FA or FAFSA info until after you have been enrolled for classes, which for us, was about 4 days before class started. :banghead:
:banghead:
:banghead: I didn't get any FA from FAFSA since my parents make too much (BTW, UTMB requires you to submit your parent's tax info, even if you're 30 and have two kids of your own and have filled independently for 8 years!!!) I qualified for loans only
:crying2: I think many of my classmates would tell you that the FA/Loans part was way more stressful that then application process.
I was told by the financial aid dept at utmb that the parental info is only used for additional programs and scholarships and not to base your main financial need on.
Through FAFSA, parental info is not required once you are 24 or older. If you are under 24 years old, your parental information is DEFINITELY considered when looking at basic financial need though.

Not required for actual FAFSA, but UTMB doesn't process FA without it, and it does matter. Trust me. I've had a few screaming matches with them over this. I got loans only, even though I'm married, have two kids and have a husband in school FT as well. My FAFSA award at the program I declined was over 7k
