UTMB Spring 2012

Published

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

Whomp Whomp Whomp! Another day as past! :/ No word of anything??

Hey everyone...I'm fairly new to this site and wanted to touch base. From what I've been able to tell, the first round of interviews have already been done and we're now waiting on second round interviews?

Thanks for the help :)

Welcome Erika!

And yep, thats about it. Were just all playing the waiting game over here.

Everybody's losing so far.

Has anyone gone to an open house? I actually signed up today for the one on the 8th. Silly I know, since this is something I should have done BEFORE I even applied, but they were always on my weekend to work, and I'm curious to see what their simulation labs look like.

Hi Erika,

As you can see this has been a long drawn out process and I know for me that it's frustrating. I'm hoping we here something next week!

Maybe I'll see you there! I think I'm working that open house. You *may* not be shown the sim lab since they are being moved from Rebecca Sealy to the SON building right now. We've been in limbo this semester while they finished up renos from IKE in the SON. But, I can tell you that they are state-of-the-art. Breathing, blinking, talking, BIRTHING, sweating, bleeding mannequins. The rooms all have video cameras in the ceiling and the instructors have control from a room with giant big screens. You have male patients with cajun femail voices :lol2:

In the Army we had these things. Supposedly they were close to $150,000 each... the military is serious about their medical training. It's probably some of the best in the world.

A big difference would probably be that they turned the heat on to 115 in the lab, shut the lights out so we had to use red flashlights to do our sticks and had blaring battle sounds with things exploding everywhere and bullets whizzing overhead forcing us to lay on our bellies to provide care.

Totally different world! The mannequins are unreal though... very cool.

OMG THAT SOUNDS AMAZING! Bummer that they might not show us. And yeah definitely, just let me know if you do.

Cool! I served in the military also! I was asked alot about my military background during my Interview...

I went to an open house in May. We weren't shown the sim lab :( We did a quick tour that was pretty much limited to walking around campus for about 15 minutes and looking around from the outside.
