UTMB Spring 2010

Published

Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.

Specializes in hematology/oncology.

Ok so, there is a monthly stipend to nurses students that they are given those trying to get a nursing degree to help with bills so they don't have to work. Its not that much but at this point all counts. Once, you get accepted into the program you can ask the financial advisor about it. (I'm sorry when you get accepted)

Ok, so I have been thinking long and hard about this. I am going to write a letter to the decision making committee to ask them if they will allow students who have interviewed and got accepted but declined if they can nominate a person to give their spot to. I know, so for all of those students that have a close chat room like ours and know someone who didn't get accepted but really want it, maybe they can get it. LOL!!!!!!!!! Iknow they are going to laugh but what the hey? I figure I would try.

Hey guys where is the thread that someone posted saying what questions they asked in the interview?

Thank you Jazzy..I don't know how well that will go over with the board, but like you said.."what the hey?" lol I'm bout to TRY to get some rest..good luck everyone....I'll log on soon as I'm out of my interview (if I don't flounder too much) and check in with all of you to see how it went!

14 hours to go.....

I know what you mean jazzy! I have a sibling that also applied to the program but never got an interview invite (nor a rejection letter..). I emailed Ms. C and asked if someone where to decline the nursing interview/nursing program if they would send out more interview invitations. Her reply was "No. not at this time". LOL! Better to ask through email than in person. That way, they can't match my face. :)

When I went to my interview I also stopped by the financial aid office to ask a couple questions. The lady told me that the first step is to fill out the FASFA online. I explained that I didn't want to have to get my parents information since I am old enough to do it on my own and knew I wouldn't get anything from it. She said that I had to get my parents information if I am younger than 24 (which I am) and that the school needed that information to issue a direct loan and to get scholarships through the school. So some of y'all might want to fill out the FASFA even if you know you won't get anything, cause you can get a loan and scholarship money!

i understand that it is late and i need to go to bed so i can wake up bright and early for my interview tomorrow....however i have a quick question to those who have already interviewed, or anyone who would know.... do the interviewers have your information as far as classes you've taken, etc.. in front of them? obviously they have your name and stuff, but do they have your actual application in front of them with your essay, transcripts, etc...?

I interviewed back in October for the BACC2 program and no, they did not have my information in front of them. Be prepared to answer a lot of questions about how flexible you are and how you will handle the stress. Also, the traditional "Why do you want to be a nurse?" question will come up. The lady who interviewed me was really nice. I got my acceptance letter a couple of weeks after my interview so I guess I'll be seeing some of you guys down in Galveston in January.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Here goes! I'm on my way, I need coffee! I'll post when I get home and let you know how mine went, we'll compare notes. Someone posted earlier, that 'its your spot, now step up and claim it' or something along those lines, remember that (a little 8am inspiration for ya :-)

Good luck today, everybody!!!!!! You're gonna do awesome!
