  1. I bought all of mine on amazon and probably saved about $200
  2. Kcalalang, that's the same one I bought! :)
  3. If it helps, I bought a littman classic. It was on sale for $63 I think. Regular $99 I believe. A friend told me that was a good one. I know nothing so I took her word for it. While I was on there I bought my pen light, badge holder and scissors.
  4. cjack15, I don't think you need to wear scrubs to orientation. From what I understand you will be sitting in meetings all day so wear something you are comfortable in. Wear whatever you think would look nice in your picture because you will wear it everyday on your badge! I got an apt in League City for $642 a month but bills aren't included so it probably comes out to the same price. I wanted to live somewhere between Galveston and Houston since I heard we will be commuting back and forth a lot. Have you moved in already? I just moved in yesterday and am getting settled in as we speak. I forgot how much work it is moving into a new place! Hope this answers your question. :) Allison
  5. Quick message: got really cheap, comfortable shoes at Academy. Kswiss, $39.99 Friend of mine just told me that you should try and order your steth ahead of time because the ones from the student gov can take awhile to get in. She recommended allheart.com for good deals. Also, moved to League City today! Very excited for school to start!!! :stdnrsrck:
  6. Ok, so today I finally got my information packet too! I went ahead and ordered all of my books ($600 later) and got my PDA set up (another $250). I feel broke.... Also, I got electricity ready to go in my apt (moving Friday!!!) and now all I need is internet, scrubs, and all of the other random supplies...I think we can buy a kit at orientation though so I guess I'll just wait. I really hope they get us the money we are supposed to be getting soon. I could use that right about now. Still haven't been registered for classes and still am not able to get on Blackboard or email. However, it did say in the info pkt that we would get all of our info for BB and email during the orientation so I'm not going to worry about it.
  7. Sherbevs, I don't have access to any of that stuff yet either. I'm sure they will let us know how to use all of the online stuff during orientation. Don't panic yet...we haven't even started school! If you don't see your immunizations I would call student wellness and see what is going on. Chances are they lost it. They lost some of my stuff too and I had to resend it.
  8. Yes. Checkout texas tech, UTMB, and Texas a&m in round rock. I believe they all have accelerated programs.
  9. Oh grr...I am so frustrated. My e-connect has not updated yet. I don't see any of the stuff ya'll are talking about. Have any other Bacc2 students seen the schedule yet? If so, does anyone know what it looks like?
  10. I heard clinicals are 12 hours for Bacc2s. My friend told me you would work whatever schedule the nurse you are assigned to shadow works. I was also told yesterday by Mrs. C at Admissions that we would be responsible for paying tuition the day before classes start and that we wouldn't find out how much it is until we get to orientation.
  11. Bacc2s will get a check during orientation I believe.
  12. I'm going to live in league city so I'll be halfway between Galveston and Houston. I got an apartment at a place called broadstone walker commons. It's really nice and the price was similar to what I found in Galveston but the apt is much newer. I'll be in Houston the day before orientation, we should all meet then! I would love to have some familiar faces when we go to orientation! :)
  13. I sent mine in different envelopes and I hope they got there ok. I need to call and check to see if they were received. Also, I think we will find out what software we need during orientation. I downloaded the skyscape app on my iphone but I haven't set up any of the account information. I think we have to go through a mini-computer camp during orientation. I'm sure they will answer alot of the questions during that camp. Hope this helps.
  14. Sarah_Ashley, I read on the website that we need all white non porous shoes. I know Nike shox makes some white leather ones and I went to try them on and they arebery comfortable. I read a lot of nurses really like them because they are extra squishy! Where are you going to live? I am going this weekend to look at places. I'm either looking at league city/ clear lake area or close to medcenter since we will be doing a lot of our clinicals there. I don't really want to deal with traffic on the days we have clinical.
  15. I think the scholarship is a one time thing. Since we didn't have to apply for it the first time I don't see why we would start after the first semester. Has anyone started buying their supplies yet? (ie shoes, books, scrubs, etc)
