UTMB Spring 2010

Published

Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.

Hey guys...for those of you who have already done the background check how much time did it take to get the report...I just got the email about the interview today and right away did the check. I just want to make sure that it is back in time for the interview tomorrow.

I'm sorry Jade. I know you must be really disappointed :-(.

lcap, I think my background report was back after about 48 hours. However, the person interviewing me did not have it in front of them, so I think they just want it in time for the comittee decision, which I believe happens in the week following your interview.

Jazzy Jazzy Jazzy...it's all your fault you know!

Jade I'm am so sorry you didn't get an interview...we mentioned it before..that others have not gotten interviews, but still got in..I would keep calling.keep your name on their minds...if someone refuses the acceptance..you could still have a chance...please keep trying.

thanks for the encouragement guys!

lcap - i am so glad you called and congratulations you will do well. let us know how it was.

hopefulbacc2010 - i haven't given up just yet. i am staying hopeful until january.

toasterbell - i am a little disappointed but i know that things happen when the time is right for it to happen.

ms_sealy - i will keep trying...thanks for the advice.

Hey guys... I'm confused. I hadn't looked into the generic program that much, since I was applying for BACC2. Do they get summer off?????? I can't imagine that, but it looks like their curriculum doesn't say anything about summer.

Hi Toasterbell,

I don't think so. The Bacc2 is 3 semesters and the 2010 generic is 4 semesters, graduating in Spring 2011. At least, that is how I understood the differences for this year.

The generic program that starts in the fall has the summer off...However the program that starts in the spring does not. The spring program goes "spring-summer-fall-spring" and then the program is completed. Most people who do the generic program that starts in the fall use that summer semester off to do an externship, etc...

I wish we were starting in the fall, that would be great to have the summer off...oh well.

Ohhhhh, OK. I was kind of excited for a second that I'd be able to work like 2 jobs over the summer to make up money so that I wouldn't have to work during school. Oh well. I keep hoping that a rich uncle will appear and pay my way :-P. I've got two kiddoes and a disabled husband, so I can't just live off the 6,000 I'd have left after tuition from a student loan.

Yeah that would be nice toasterbell, work a ton and save money...boo...

I really don't know how I am going to do this. I know they don't want you to work when you're in nursing school, but I can't afford to NOT work. I already have a BS in Psychology, so once you get your degree, you are limited on how much financial aid you can receive, at least from the government/fafsa/whatever. I'm going to have to go through banks or something and get private student loans. A lot of the scholarships are for the fall, so I'm going to have to apply to every one that I see that I'm eligible for this spring and hope for the best (again, a lot of them won't consider you if you already have a degree) I know they do institutional loans through UTMB, but you have to put your parents income information on there...my dad runs a bank, but he's never contributed to me financially for college, so that does more harm than good for me.

It is unfortunate, because if I DO get in, I won't even get to be really excited, because I don't know how I'm going to pay for school AND my bills. I'm working all that I can right now, but since I am a bartender and the economy is still down, people aren't exactly tipping. Oh well, I'll find a way :-)

Sorry to be a downer, I am just really struggling to put everything together and make it work. But I'll do it. I'll put my stubbornness to good use, I AM a redhead afterall ;-)
