Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.
Basically, because of lack of health experience, some non practical student like us can miss or fail to obey the rules, regulations, rights of patient care...general things like care plan and principle in dealing with patients in the Hospitals in a procedural way. All these are important. For you that have the skill already, you stand out as advantage...those are really tough one for example, I have a female friend that was drop from a community college last semester, because her instruct saw her printing a patient care plan...why she did it was because she saw other student doing it...she get drop from the program...
The director of nursing in her school, asked her why? she can't say, I saw others do it then I have to do it...
Just very little things matters in clinicals...for UTMB, you don't do your clinicals in one hospital...the person that was advicing me said, one hospital might be good for you and why it is nightmale for another student...that I have to be careful with patients..so that I wouldn't mess things up
I later made up my mind that, it is not about finishing the nursing school without practical experience but build the foundation from scratch now...if I have a choice am looking to switch to generic get the knowledge and work part time or volunter with the hospital for the practical experience till I graduate to get the RN LICENSE...
Thank you all for the tips on interviewing! This is my first interview and i can't even practice for it cause i have to study for a test that's on the same day as the interview, not to mention that i just turn in my unknown report as well as had a quiz (sorry for the rant). I just hope all goes well! Good luck to everyone with the interview!

Hi Sherbevs,
Sorry I have been disconnected with you guys couple days...with 2 kids , a husband, a house and all the moving arrangement...I am almost insane.
I had asked the program director about some brief stats of the past BACC2 class at UTMB, such as how many of us make it to the final day, what is the state board exam passing rate, how is clinical expectation...Here is what is replied:
"Congratulation in your acceptance in the BACC2 program, and I will be happy to answer any question you may have. As you said the BACC2 program is very intensive program. To be successful in the BACC2 program, you need to be dedicated to the program and have the program one of your top priority. Many students done it before, and you will. We have 100% NCLEX success pass rate. The students that been successful in the program have the time management skills, self disciplined, organization skills strategy, they do their assignments and reading on time. Some of the students who was not successful ( they are few), they have their own reason, some family issues ..etc.
If your goal is to be successful in the program, I think you will do it. We the faculty will support you during the program to be successful.
Hope this help-Please let me know if you have question.
Thank you and have great day-SA

My utmost goal is the MSN program...so I have to keep up with good grades with the BSN. Hope we can do it. Can't wait to meet you guys and be classmates together. Good day
Clinical, to me, will not neccessary be hard but challenging for us as nursing students. Healthcare practices involve a lot of rules and policies...so they call "CYA practicing" (ie. "cover your ass practicing"). But if we unite, have a communication site for us BACC2 class 2010 to let each others know our concerns, and help each others out in the way we could...I think we will be OK. Let s keep the spirit up. We will do it. Good day, my friends.
Hi Sherbevs,
I couldn't see the class schedule under e-connect. I believe we will get more information closer to registration. They do have the academic calendar online - http://www.son.utmb.edu/studentaffairs/current/academic_calendar.html
They also have the Spring 2010 booklist on the SON home page, left side.
The packet of information they send has all those forms to fill out like the health insurance form stating you have insurance, the shot records form etc.. It was about 6 sheets of paper to fill out and return.
Thanks for offering to help with the health assessments and other classes you have completed. That will help a lot.
Take care,
Deb.
Okay I need yall's advice. I've been accepted to UT-HSC and I still have the interview at UTMB tomorrow. I don't want to burn any bridges or screw myself over by not going but a few people have told me to cancel to give someone else a chance. So what do yall think I should do? Go or not go?
Hi Cadiaz,
I think you should interview with UTMB. It won't hurt, and you may be amazed at the difference between the two schools. If you get an offer, you can decline and the spot will still be there for someone else. If you decide to accept, there will be a place at UTHSC for someone else.
Everything happens for a reason and you don't want any "what ifs" down the road. Congrats on the interview, and you'll do great.
Best wishes,
Deb.
Well, people want to get into UTHSC just as desperately as UTMB, and no matter what, they'll still accept the same number of people, so I'd just go ahead and try, if you'd really rather go to UTMB. I'm sure not everyone will agree, but that's my thought. However, if you're leaning towards UTHSC, definitely cancel this one.

Sammie09, do you have any specifics with regrads to clinicals being tough?
