UTMB FALL 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

The UTMB Fall 2019 application opens soon on November 15! Have you started on your essay or the TEAS preparation yet? I am so excited and nervous at the same time and have been stalking past threads on AllNurses.

Currently taking AP I and Microbiology and will be taking AP II in the Spring. I hope to take the TEAS by the end of December.

Please feel free to discuss your experience, stats, comments, etc.

Good luck to all of us! :)

Hey y'all! After pouring over the thread from fall 2018 I noticed a couple of trends with acceptance. Here's what I found:

-If you have a 3.8+ prereq GPA, 3.5+ science GPA, and a TEAS of 87+ then you're a good candidate for early admission(acceptance with no interview).

-If you have around a 3.4 prereq and science GPA, and a TEAS of 86+ you're a good candidate for interview and acceptance.

-Lower TEAS scores(closer to 80), can still be accepted if your GPA is higher(3.9).

-No one with overall TEAS scores in the 70s was accepted for regular admission.

- Even if one of your stats is not where you want it to be, they really do take into account other factors like previous schooling, work experience, and personal statements.

Y'all!!!! Check mystar! My To-do list just got updated!

It's weird because it is saying that I did not upload my TEAS result. It is also showing the classes that I have left to finish.

Such great news! Congrats! If you don’t mind, what were your stats?

Heck yeah! Stats like that earn early admission and invitations to the honors program.

I realized since they updated their website, a lot of the info they had disappeared! Luckily I downloaded the application timeline several months ago (I've attached a copy of it to this post). Also according to past threads in for this term:

Mid to late February early admittance (for outstanding academic performance) is sent out

First wave interviews are sent out the second or third full week of February. The following waves will be sent out every two weeks. Denials will also be sent out at this time for people who don't make the minimum requirements.

Once all spots are filled they start sending out waitlist emails. Near the end of the admission cycle, some people will still be interviewed specifically to be put on the waitlist. If you are waitlisted and you have no other options, don't give up hope. People are pulled from the waitlist every year.

Finally, I found The fall semester receives about 800 applications and only accepts 130. That's a rate of 16.25%.

Sorry for the long post but I do research when I'm anxious and figured yall might have some of the same questions I had!

Hey guys!

I'm currently a third semester nursing student at UTMB. I remember what it was like waiting to hear back about your applications/interviews - let me know if you have any questions at all! I'm happy to help!

I know someone on this thread asked about housing; I will be looking for someone to take over my lease when I graduate this summer. I live close to campus in a private guest home. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. Laundry units included! Depending on the weather, sometimes I bike to campus which takes about 5 minutes and sometimes I drive which takes a total of 2 minutes! Rent is extremely affordable - it doesn't even compare to the cost of apartments in the area or even student housing! And not to mention it's a house; not an apartment! (which in my opinion is always better!)

Let me know if anyone might be interested and I can let you know more! Or even if you're not interested in housing but have questions about anything else, feel free to ask!

Hi elyse628! Hope your semester is going well! I can't seem to find what exactly makes up the science GPA. Everyone seems to have different answers. Do you know the classes UTMB uses to calculate it?

If we're accepted, does anyone know what day classes start, or even better, the first day that we'd need to show up for something, like orientation, etc.???
