UTMB FALL 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

The UTMB Fall 2019 application opens soon on November 15! Have you started on your essay or the TEAS preparation yet? I am so excited and nervous at the same time and have been stalking past threads on AllNurses.

Currently taking AP I and Microbiology and will be taking AP II in the Spring. I hope to take the TEAS by the end of December.

Please feel free to discuss your experience, stats, comments, etc.

Good luck to all of us! :)

Hi elyse628! Hope your semester is going well! I can't seem to find what exactly makes up the science GPA. Everyone seems to have different answers. Do you know the classes UTMB uses to calculate it?

I don't quite remember how UTMB calculates it; as long as you meet the minimum requirements to apply (those that are listed on their website), they really focus on your personal statement and that's what they like to discuss during the interview process.

I edited it with the text!

Hi everyone, how did you guys come up with your stats including the overall GPA and science GPA. It is through the “prerequisite evaluation form” from the UTMB website or from the NursingCAS?

I downloaded the pdf of my verified application from NCAS and all the different GPA's were listed on there. Not sure if there's another place to see it at or not. (depending on how many courses you entered, the page with the GPA's should be around Page 7 of the pdf)

You can look at your NursingCAS app like the previous poster said.

I believe these are the components to it:

Overall would be all of the college classes that you have taken.

Science GPA would include AP I and II, Micro, Chemistry, elective Science, and Nutrition.

Prereq GPA would be all of the prerequisites listed in the UTMB BSN website, which totals to 60 credits.

Interesting I never thought to include nutrition in the science GPA before, but it is in fact a science course so that makes sense! I wonder if other schools do it like that as well.. ?

I am a little late to this discussion but I am also applying for the Fall 2019 class!

Overall GPA: 3.57

Pre-req GPA: 3.68

Science GPA: 3.45

Teas overall: 84.7%

I am a current Texas A&M student and UTMB is in my top 2 choices for nursing schools. Can't wait to hear back!

I actually just contacted admissions about what goes into the Science GPA! It is your AP1&2, Micro, Chem, and elective science! I assumed nutrition would be in there but she said it does not count into the science GPA. Hope this helps!

Hey guys!

I'm currently a third semester nursing student at UTMB. I remember what it was like waiting to hear back about your applications/interviews - let me know if you have any questions at all! I'm happy to help!

I know someone on this thread asked about housing; I will be looking for someone to take over my lease when I graduate this summer. I live close to campus in a private guest home. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. Laundry units included! Depending on the weather, sometimes I bike to campus which takes about 5 minutes and sometimes I drive which takes a total of 2 minutes! Rent is extremely affordable - it doesn't even compare to the cost of apartments in the area or even student housing! And not to mention it's a house; not an apartment! (which in my opinion is always better!)

Let me know if anyone might be interested and I can let you know more! Or even if you're not interested in housing but have questions about anything else, feel free to ask!

Hi @elyse628 !My name is Michelle Morrison and I was accepted into the Summer 2019 SON class. I've been trying to find a place to live in Galveston, so I'm interested in maybe taking over you rental house. I will start this May so I am not sure if you'd be moved out by then?
