  1. Oops LOL I missed that, but yes, most hospital systems will open their application processes around August, September, October if I remember correctly. I think I did most of my applications around the end of September, but that was kind of down to the wire as far as the deadlines were concerned. And make sure you have your rec letters from clinical faculty, school faculty, previous employers, or whoever secured before then. You don't want to miss an application deadline because you're waiting on rec letters. Some places don't require any but will accept them, then other places require 2 letters. ?
  2. Has anyone else here accepted an offer for the CVICU at the med center location? I received a verbal offer this week and should be receiving the offer letter/email, etc. this coming Monday. It's all so exciting ?
  3. The application for the Winter cohort opened back in September ? But I believe there are still some job postings for the Winter cohort up that you can apply to. Just go to the career page and when you search in the available jobs, search for "new grad residency". Hope this helps! ?
  4. For those that have received emails from Harris Health (or know someone that has), which units/locations did you choose when you applied or did the emails say which unit you'd be interviewing for? I haven't received an email yet so I'm secretly hoping that maybe they are starting with certain locations or units ?
  5. I just went ahead and turned down the offer. It was the unit I wanted but it wasn't really a location I wanted to be at, so I decided it would be better to hold out for something else than to be stuck somewhere I didn't want to be for 2+ years. I did ask around though and my friend knows someone who accepted an offer with a HCA facility in Dallas and she said she doesn't have to sign the contract until January, so you might could expect something similar here. Also, just as a side note, from what I've read here on AN about HCA, in addition to paying back the prorated amount, some people have said you get blacklisted from ever working at a HCA facility again if you break the contract and that wasn't a chance I wanted to take so that played into my decision as well. If its a unit and location you want or can be happy with for the 2+ years though, then I don't see any harm in tentatively accepting the offer for now. Best of luck!
  6. For those of you that accepted offers from HCA, what is the process afterwards? Does the contract have to be signed immediately, or can you accept and still have the option of backing out if you receive an offer from a different facility? I'm nervous to accept since Harris Health doesn't appear to have even started their interviews, my application for my second choice at Hermann is still open, and I have been listed as an alternate for my 1st choice at Hermann; but I also don't want to turn the offer down in case I don't hear from anyone else. I'm so torn and my only hope is that maybe the contract doesn't have to be signed immediately.
  7. It might be worth giving someone at UTMB a call to see if they have any suggestions regarding your situation. I was a single mom myself before, and I'd hate to see you pass up an opportunity that could be life-changing for you and your child. I don't know if some extra info might help, and I don't know that it's the exact same for fall semester, but my friend in the summer cohort said that clinicals don't start until about 4 weeks after classes start, they are on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays and whatever day you get will not change (at least for that semester, idk about after that), and the location you are assigned will determine whether the clinical is during the day or at night. I'm not sure if it's possible for students to utilize any on site daycare the hospitals might have for employees, but it might be worth asking someone at UTMB about. Aside from that, I would start looking into childcare now, so that you have a plan in place for when school starts. Typically some areas have daycares or childcare providers that provide care for odd hours, specifically because there are first responders, healthcare professionals, plant workers, etc that are single parents with no other options for care. If there are any community fb pages for the Galveston area, you might join those as well and see if anyone can point you in the right direction for safe, reliable childcare. I hope this helps and best of luck!!!
  8. Hey guys, I know this is an old thread, but I was hoping those of you who interviewed for the honors program at UTMB might be able to give some insight and advice for that particular interview. Like what questions they may ask, is it a committee interview or one on one, general tips, etc. Thanks!!!
  9. Try not to lose hope. I have a friend in the summer cohort, which starts like next week, and she said they are still pulling people off the waitlist for admission.
  10. I have a friend who is still waiting to hear something.
  11. I did! I think there may have been around 32 that were. If you go back a few pages on this thread, there was a groupme started for those who were accepted that you can join if you haven't already done so ?
  12. I don't think anyone has interviewed yet. I was accepted and did not interview, so I believe these should all just be the early admissions.
  13. Sorry, yes, I forgot to include stats. Overall GPA 3.82 Science GPA 4.0 Overall TEAS 88% Reading Score:87.2% Math Score:96.9% Science Score:80.9% English Score:87.5% Some hospital and respite care provider experience from several years ago. And idk if it matters, but someone had asked earlier, so I'll include that my last name starts with R
  14. Mine just changed to "admitted" too!!! I seriously screamed out loud y'all ? Congrats to everyone who has gotten their early admission, and if you haven't yet, don't give up hope!!!
  15. Congrats @riley68!!!!!!!
