When they said to bring a passport photo with us to orientation, where do you get that done at? That's the only thing I didn't get. It wasn't mentioned anywhere except under the things we need to bring with us.

Didn't Get In To Nursing School?

My advice would be to figure out why you weren't accepted with those scores. I mean, those are very good. Do you have any withdrawals? Do you have a record? Any convictions? etc. If you were rejected by 3 schools with those scores, theres an underling issue I'm sure. GL with your future applications.

    UTMB Fall 2018

Hopefully this eases y'alls worries some. I was accepted into the Fall 2017 class. I'll put my stats in detail below. TEAS Overall: 80 Math: 96.9 Reading: 80.9 Science: 72.3 English: 70.8 Btw, I took it twice. Overall GPA: 3.94 Science GPA: 4.0 Army Veteran; Combat Medic; EMT And a really good written personal statement This class though, they're the best of the best students out there. Top notch candidates! (That does not include myself) LOL For the denials, they come out in waves just like the interviews do. The professors & ppl in charge of selecting the students meet every other week (if I'm remembering correctly) to review applications. Now, they will send out denial letters up front to the applicants that don't meet the requirements. Mind you, Fall semesters have the highest requirements. For all the semesters, if your GPA is at or below 3.0, you probably won't get in. If you make less than a 70% in any of the sections of the TEAS, you probably won't get in either. For fall semesters specifically, I was told any GPA below 3.5 will probably not make the cut off and TEAS scores at or below 80 won't either. You want an 85 or better to be competitive. BUT, as you can see from my stats, there are exceptions! That's what I love about UTMB. They look at the individual all together, not just the stats. I know for certain at UTHSC, they only look at the GPAs and the HESI/TEAS scores. I can't remember which test they wanted. That was also mentioned at their open house, so it's not a secret by any means. I probably wouldn't have gotten accepted myself if they had only looked at my numbers.

    UTMB Fall 2018

They were "okay" but I have a medical background. My TEAS overall was 80, my GPA was 3.94. I was originally planning on applying to UTHSCH and TWU as well, but when I had my interview at UTMB I literally fell in love with the school. I knew I didn't wanna be anywhere else and I still feel this way. The fall is by far the most competitive class to get accepted into, but hey, I got accepted into the fall class with them. I have military experience, EMT experience, etc. which I know helped my case. And no, That's crazy. You start class in Aug. June/July would be the ABSOLUTE latest and that's if you had been placed on a waiting list (which they would email you and tell you about) and then someone enrolled dropped out before the start of the program. You'll have welcome weekend and destination Galveston to attend during the late summer months close to the start of the program.

    UTMB Fall 2018

If you want to PM me I can tell you more about the program. I am SO glad I chose UTMB. You'll have the opportunity to do clinicals at UTMB, all over the Med Center, etc. It's really great. We bump elbows with TWU & UTHSCH students all the time at clinicals.

    UTMB Fall 2018

I live in league city but I'm one of very few in my class that commutes. Most of the students are traditional students (in my specific class) so they are able to live there on the island. I am a single mom and I needed to live closer to family members for help. Feel free to ask any questions about the program on here or PM me if you'd rather. I'll answer to the best of my abilities.

New Grad Salary in Houston Med Center

I've seen some older threads covering new grad salaries in the Houston metro area specifically the Med Center, but I couldn't find anything current. Any new grads out there working in the med center willing to share the pay scale? Just to get an idea of what I may be making. I'm not sure if ADN vs BSN have any pay difference, but I am currently obtaining my BSN. I am not yet a RN. Thank you.

    UTMB Fall 2018

Interviews will go out heavy in March & April, but continue into May and even sometimes past that. I know the waiting game stinks. Hang in there & try to enjoy this time before fall. Sincerely, A current UTMB nursing student that should be studying instead of replying on allnurses (I wasn't here) Good Luck!!!

    Texas nursing schools

https://www.bon.texas.gov/pdfs/education_pdfs/education_programs/RN%205YR-16.pdf This is a good website (the BON website) to view different nursing schools both community colleges and universities. I would compare a few by name and NCLEX scores and then do a bit of research on what classes you'd need, GPA, TEAS/HESI scores, location of school, price, etc. I attached the list I'm talking about. It was super helpful to me. Good Luck on your search! Oh, and most of the schools have an explanation of what you really need to be accepted into the program located on their website, and not just the minimum requirements (at least mine did.)

    What Should I Do?

I took micro and a&p2 together along with 2 other courses so I'd take those together and then do stats in the summer (:

Already been told I shouldn't be a nurse (Rant)

That's ridiculously unprofessional. I would never return to that location for recertification. Let it roll off your back. Some people get a kick out of "having more knowledge" about a subject and make others feel like crap about it. That person shouldn't be instructing any course at all.
