UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? :uhoh3: What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

Hurry up and wait!

When they said "decisions" did they mean 4-6 weeks before acceptance into the program?

It could still mean that interview emails are only days away and that we find out if we get in in 4-6 weeks :)

I tried to get clarification, she just repeated the "4-6 weeks after" line. When I called, enrollment services, it went to their full voice mail, so I was transferred to an "attendant", what ever thst means. It was probably just a poor student worker trained to say the same thing to all one hundred inquiries each day. Maybe someone can try tomorrow??

I confess that I just spent an hour+ reading the Fall 2010 thread. I was anxious with them, crying with them...

I confess that now I'm even more worried about not getting in - my grades were once pretty iffy.

I confess that I shouldn't have read that thread, all 70-something pages.

I confess that I'm obsessed about this right now. I cry almost everyday because I want to be more than an LVN and I'm afraid that schools won't want me :(

Do you have a confession??

Yes I too have read the other threads. I even looked through the ones under the student section. My first two years of college were a disaster. But I finished with honors. There is nothing left for us to do but sit back and wait.

Punky...stop worrying...I am sure you explained your past grades in your essay and if there is one school out there who will take it into consideration it is UTMB! Everybody creates different scenarios in a vacum and that is exactly where we all are right now. I am worried as well so I created a list that is posted at my desk with my pros and cons listed in big bold letters and the pro list is much longer...try it...I am sure yours will be longer as well.

I have a confession- I dropped my chem class this semester thus disqualifying myself from the running for fall. If I get an interview (which I don't think I will) I'll be declining and hopefully it'll go to someone else on the bubble! :)

So...just talked with Enrollment Services. Invitations to interview will not go out until the end of March and offers will go out in April.

Oh...and they had about 1000 applicants.

Hey everyone!

Is this thread for the BSN program?

If so, I have 2 questions...

1) How much do you think it affects acceptance if you don't have the history pre-req's completed?

2) Is there an interview process for UTMB? I didn't read anything about it on their website. Has anyone gotten a letter yet?

Thanks alot!

:bluecry1:

Well, I guess the good news is that I can stop obsessing over my email during the next week.

The bad news is that I now feel like this. :barf01:

1K??? Wow.

Guess the gal I talked to wasn't kidding when she said 4-6 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that MJ - but maybe your silver lining is that your applicant pool will be MUCH smaller! :) Best of luck when you do take it again. It was rough for me - I was young, no family, had a tutor and still kicked and screamed my way though - and only ended up with a C. Yuck.

2) Yes, this the the generic BSN thread. And yes, there is an interview process. You can read more about it by looking through past semester threads for UTMB

1) Not a clue to be very honest. I had everything finished, so I didn't asked about how certain classes effected admission. I *do* know that UTMB is one of the few schools in the Houston area that likes a well-rounded student, not just someone with a high GPA or TEAS score.

That being said, I still just had my heart and stomach fall out of my body when I read the 1k apps - Best of luck though!!
