UIC BSN applicants for fall 2012
it's really hard to tell. most people that applied to uic are legit candidates and would do well in the program- it's just a matter of only choosing 90 something students out of 900. gpa, essays, experience help but they can only go so far. i think there's some luck thrown into the choices as well. don't take it too personal if you don't get in. there are tons of other nursing schools to apply to. just remember, everything happens for a reason. someday you'll see why things happen the way they did. :) about nclex scores: you can look up any schools in any state through the board of nursing which is a government site for each state. the tricky part is finding it. :) good luck!! don't worry too much, i know that's way easier said than done but still give it a try!

UIC BSN applicants for fall 2012
Global, Yes the schools know about the NCLEX pass rates. In order for a school to be accredited it has to have certain requirements and the NCLEX pass rate reflects how well the school has prepared the students throughout their nursing student career. NCLEX pass rate is a pretty big deal. It concerns me that UIC is so low...

Going from a career in nursing to med school
P.S. There is such thing as a Nurse Practitioner which can do many things that a Doctor can do... check it out. That may be the route to go.

Going from a career in nursing to med school
Hey! You can definitely do that! You can pick any undergraduate major as long as you complete all the Pre-med courses along with it. I would say that it would be quite the challenge to be a full-time student working on a BSN doing 12 hour clinicals and taking Organic Chemistry 1& 2, Biochemistry, Physics, etc and taking the MCAT. But if you have the money, time, :up:discipline, the brains, and desire it can most definitely be done! In order to be a competitive applicant for Nursing School and Medical School you will need to have a high GPA mainly A's with a few B's and get an exceptional score on the MCAT. This may be a challenge to take the nursing curriculum and pre-med pre-req's and get all A's. I encourage you with all my heart, but also want to be honest with what the challenge and competition will be. Sincerely, Katejane

How do I 'toughen up?'
There are always going to be those type of people that no matter how hard you try to please them, satisfy them, or make them smile- THEY WON'T. This is not a problem with you. Don't take it personal. They have there own personal problems. Most of the time these people are unhappy with their lives and want everyone else to feel the same. My advice to you is a few things: 1) make yourself a good reputation among your co-workers and management and patients. They will see your true character just as they did in this situation. 2) Be confident in yourself and accept that not everyone will like you in the world. Be the best person you can be. Just think, it's their lost. I am a great nurse, friend, person 3) Pay attention to your patient's and their families- if something feels off- think about what it could be. It seems as though for some reason- this patient's wife did not trust you as she went to another nurse. Find a positive way that you can gain trust and communicate with the wife about her concerns. She may have had a negative experience with another nurse in the past. Good luck! Don't change who you are! Just be confident and don't allow people to walk all over you because of your desire for their love and acceptance. Because they will sense it and not respect you. Best, Katejane

Is pharmacology a course offered at Alvin? I didn't seem it anywhere and it worried me because it's a classic nursing course that everyone says is tough... Didn't want to miss out...and as a result do bad on the NCLEX. Does anyone know??
