Sorry I didn't want this post to get mixed up with the other thread haha it's so long.
Anyways wondering if anyone else applied for the Spring 09. Im also wondering if its worth buying the study guide for the TEAS that they are selling and what kind of questions they ask you in the interview.
I'm so nervous because mine is coming up!
-Thanks Duc
To my knowledge it seems like we are assigned randomly when reading the packet. Seems like we find out our class room and schedule on the E-Res (I looked it up and right now they still have Fall 08 stuff on it). Do we also have assigned readings for classes even before school starts. (I think thats what it said)
The Heart to Heart isnt mandatory it seems. But Orientation is, btw is there a dress code seeming as there is "composite photos" taken?
So back to the books! (here's a list if you dont already have it and correct me if i'm wrong I don't want any one spending more money than they have too!)

Those seem to be all the books we needed right? Pixel seemed to say all the recommended books were useless other than the APA book which we would use in our later years...
Buying books online is tricky/risky without the ISBN. Maybe someone who has already taken the classes and used the same editions could post them?
Did anyone else notice in the first letter in the new packet:
"Hepatitis B -- the entire series must be completed and a titre drawn prior to January 7, 2009"
Ummmm I thought we only had to get the titer if we got the shots more than 10 years ago. Does this mean we ALL have to get a titer? I'll probably just call them tomorrow and see what they say.
I noticed that E-res still had fall info too, Azn. But I logged into Blackboard this past weekend, and there's a lot of info up already. So clinicals are assigned completely randomly...I wasn't sure if it was more complicated than that. I want morning clinicals!
Pookster,
You only have to get the titer if you don't have an immunization record or proof documenting when you had the shots...
If you do, and you already turned it in then you don't have to worry about it :)
Also,
has anyone gotten any more info. about the Heart to Heart program? I know its not mandatory but I'm wondering what its all about and if its worth going to??
I was told by one of the faculty that the clinical assignments are random. She also said the scrubs for clinicals are still white.
Edited to add: I decided not to go to the Heart to Heart. My family has already seen one family member go through nursing school so I think we all know what we're in for.
lancerRN2b, I got the handbook and it was all that was required (out of the two books you listed of course) during my 1st semester at uthscsa.
Pookster, I would not worry that much about heart-to-heart if you can not make it without further increasing your stress levels before the semester starts; for me, its main purpose was to introduce the students to the profession, some of the faculty members, and some student organizations you could join. The majority of our semester's classmates went, and it made me feel more settled/oriented, but a little part of me thought it was a little superfluous after being oriented again a few days later.
polter, thanks for the info. I feel bad that I'm going to miss the first thing I could go to, but I'll survive. Gotta run to my old university Monday morning to get a transcript with my degree posted anyways...I don't trust them to mail it in time, and I do NOT want to pay out-of-state tuition.

Ok, I was wondering about the Heart to Heart thing too. I'd hate to miss out on anything important, but since I only knew orientation was the 7th-9th, I put my last day at work down as Jan 2nd, and the last thing I feel like doing is hauling my crap to SA the very next day without a break.
Any current students want to chime in??
And I agree, that packet had a ton of information. Does anyone know what they base your clinical schedule on?
