I just failed a clinical this previous semester and my confidence took a dive from it as my instructor found various flaws in my clinical performance -- amongst the complaints, the two that felt true to me were my confidence/communication skills and time management skills. So my semester of retaking this course is about to start and, as it postponed my graduating semester, I was thinking about either working somewhere as a CNA or just start working somewhere to boost my communication skills at the very least. The problem with the CNA route is that I am not certified as a CNA, and I am not sure if it would be worth it to go that route while I am in my 4th (out of 5) semester of nursing school. Though, this semester is watered-down due to the prereqs of the class from my would-be 4th semester, resulting in me taking half as many credits as I would normally be taking in a semester. Externship would be a good idea if I weren't moving out of the city after graduation. Working at a grocery store could be great for my confidence but not so much for my resume and time management front. Perhaps I should just volunteer? I think suggestions would help greatly at this point. Any takers?

That's one of the conclusions you can draw from his post if you decide not to use all that is given. In the context of this discussion, what he said could be quite discriminating and would require some clarification, unless he doesn't wish to be taken seriously.

I would think you would have to get the 265th question right in order to pass; doesn't it shut down when it obtains the specific amount of questions it needs to form a pass/fail judgment?

DIC, you'd have to find someone to proxy them for you from Korea. They're really not practical unless you're willing to spend a few hundred dollars + whatever proxy fees they charge you for them.

To answer the OP... They're patent too! Blood will come right off :chuckle Practically speaking though, I've got a pair of Skechers for 30$ and it has served me well. Like others have said, just go for comfort; you've got more to worry about in the hospital than to show off your stylish clinical attire.

lancerRN2b, I got the handbook and it was all that was required (out of the two books you listed of course) during my 1st semester at uthscsa. Pookster, I would not worry that much about heart-to-heart if you can not make it without further increasing your stress levels before the semester starts; for me, its main purpose was to introduce the students to the profession, some of the faculty members, and some student organizations you could join. The majority of our semester's classmates went, and it made me feel more settled/oriented, but a little part of me thought it was a little superfluous after being oriented again a few days later.

That's strange; the vaccine is the same for both adults/children aside from the site of administration. I got mine at a local clinic. Though before you get the vaccine series started, I'd make sure what the school is requiring you to do. My school states specifically for us to have all three shots completed prior to the first day of classes or our registration would be canceled.

I'd like some advice too If anyone has any experiences, we'd love to hear from you :) From what I was told, southward of the campus is not a very safe place to live in. I went looking for apartments about 3 weeks ago... I think I'm going for either Walnut Hill or St. Moritz on Babcock/Lamb Rd ($499/$515 for 1 bed/baths), but it's strictly for the location/price.
