Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!
They come often. I think that I've heard that the ride from south lot to the school on the shuttle is 10 minutes. The time that Ive heard is inconvienent is on Mondays when we have a Health assessment test, and we have to be at the school at 7 am to start the test at 7, you have to be at the lot early, since the shuttles dont run as often before 7. So, I think they suggest you make it to the lot by 6 am.Also, depending on when you get your clinicals, the shuttle doesnt run normally on Saturday, so if you have a clinical in the Med Center on Saturday, you have to figure out parking.
I have heard people who are happy with parking at the lot. I also know a lot of classmates who ride the bus to school, or do a park and ride from katy.
Thank you so much that was so helpful! Do you know if the SON/SPH lots next to UTH get full quickly? I haven't seen the lot in person but on google maps it looks small so I was just wondering!
We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission at this time, however you have been placed on our waiting list for the BSN Pacesetter Program for the Summer 2017 term. If you do not wish to maintain a place on our waiting list, please contact us so we will withdraw your application. We wish to accommodate as many applicants as we can, therefore we will continue to fill vacancies in our class as they occur. If vacancies do occur, we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible.
Thank you for considering The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing.

I got wait listed today. This is a bit frustrating considering the fact that I submitted my app back in November, contacted the university to confirm, and even talked to an admission person to confirm I had everything necessary. Just two weeks ago on a Thursday, I received a transcript evaluation form stating that I couldn't be considered for admission because I was missing nutrition. I had nutrition from my school, and even confirmed that on their transcript equivalency form that my nutrition course was literally the exact thing they were looking for. I send an email to Mendoza and the admissions office, call and leave multiple voicemails, and even leave a message to their nursing front line desk. I call them back the following Monday, nothing. It's not until Tuesday that I get a hold of Joanne Mendoza on the phone. She hadn't looked at my email, received my voicemail, nothing, and on top of it all was extremely rude over the phone. After o walked her through my dilemma, she acknowledged that a mistake had been made, and would update the forms to reflect that. Now I get wait listed, possibly due to someone's error. Maybe I wasn't good enough, there's always that possibility. But I had a 94% HESI, 3.5 cumulative, 3.8 prerequisite stats. Ugh. Not sure if I should fight this, or just go to UTHSCSA and leave this bitterness in the past.
Hey guys,Are we suppose to submit immunization records or titers or both?
because the immunization requirements sheet states either or (except for the red letters), but on "my utportal" it states differently. I'm confused. Anybody has any comments????
I called them a couple of hours ago and they said that for myuth you need either vaccine or titer, but for evalue you need some titers regardless of receiving vaccine. They also said that they don't manage evalue, and that I would have to contact them for specific requirements on which titers they require for clinicals. This whole vaccine process is too confusing, I am really lost and unsure of what exactly I need to do. In evalue, there is a list of 22 items, mostly immunizations, and I have no idea which once I HAVE to fill out. There is also flue vaccine field in evalue, and UT health told me that they do not know if it's a requirement as well. The problem is that I cannot find the number for evalue:banghead:

Thie is what someone posted in the FB group-
"I'm not sure if any of you were confused about whether we need the titers even if we have been vaccinated. I just called the school, and apparently you need Hep B, Rubella, and Varicella titer even if you've been vaccinated. She said "although the school is fine with just the vaccines, some of the hospitals where you will be placed for clinicals require a titer test result, so we ask that you get them done prior to enrollment." :/"
I would definitely go ahead and get titers followed by immunizations for anything you no longer have immunity to. I don't see why you would need another vaccine if the lab results show that you have immunity.
