  1. Do y'all have a fb page? I'm in the previous cohort, and have info to give and books to sell!
  2. Did they do the physical/blood Work the day of match day, or at a future date??

  5. Going through the process of interviews for August graduates' match day now. I don't live in Houston, so I have to coordinate with my professors for days that I will miss in order to attend pre-match day, interviews, physicals, etc... I already missed a day of class for pre-match day, will have to miss a clinical day for the interview if I'm selected, and may have to miss more due to other components of the hiring process. Our program is extremely unsympathetic to our cause of finding employment (lol that I ever had to type that out), so missing multiple clinical days due to finding employment may result in us failing the course... from y'alls experience, when do they try to schedule the physical, orientation, and other steps of the hiring process? Will it be after we graduate in August, or should I plan on likely missing another clinical day during the summer?

  9. If I remember correctly, your first semester consists of patho, professional socialization, health assessment for 8 weeks (after those 8 weeks, you'll have fundamentals for 6 weeks), and skills labs either in the morning or afternoon depending on what you sign up for. You'll have patho once a week (not mandatory, but sometimes there'll be an in class quiz or exam which you'll have to be there for), pro socialization once a week (same thing here), and then health assessment/fundamentals I think 3x a week (also not mandatory, but I'd definitely attend since the tests are VERY close to the lecture material). The skills labs are also 3x a week I believe and absolutely mandatory. Your day will usually start at 8am or 9am, and then end around 1 or 2, or noonish depending on what days they arrange your classes. (enjoy it, we're currently going 8-3pm). Your last 2 weeks will consist of clinicals, which will either be morning (like 6am-2pm I think) or afternoon (Idk the time since I did mornings). You will also have 2 weekly supplemental instruction group tutoring sessions taught by former students for Patho... 100% GO TO THESE; EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND RELEVANT WITH RESPECT TO EXAM CONTENT. I think that's everything schedule wise.
  10. Also a current member of the ABSN program that is set to graduate in August. I'll tell you guys right now that without the help of the previous ABSN cohort (there's only one per year unfortunately, so we only got to see them in school one semester before they graduated) there's no way I would have excelled as well as I did in my first couple of semesters. I am also more than happy to help with ANY questions you may have!
  11. I got wait listed today. This is a bit frustrating considering the fact that I submitted my app back in November, contacted the university to confirm, and even talked to an admission person to confirm I had everything necessary. Just two weeks ago on a Thursday, I received a transcript evaluation form stating that I couldn't be considered for admission because I was missing nutrition. I had nutrition from my school, and even confirmed that on their transcript equivalency form that my nutrition course was literally the exact thing they were looking for. I send an email to Mendoza and the admissions office, call and leave multiple voicemails, and even leave a message to their nursing front line desk. I call them back the following Monday, nothing. It's not until Tuesday that I get a hold of Joanne Mendoza on the phone. She hadn't looked at my email, received my voicemail, nothing, and on top of it all was extremely rude over the phone. After o walked her through my dilemma, she acknowledged that a mistake had been made, and would update the forms to reflect that. Now I get wait listed, possibly due to someone's error. Maybe I wasn't good enough, there's always that possibility. But I had a 94% HESI, 3.5 cumulative, 3.8 prerequisite stats. Ugh. Not sure if I should fight this, or just go to UTHSCSA and leave this bitterness in the past.
  12. No problem! Best of luck to you. 92 TEASV 87.3 TEASVI 3.0 cumulative (I got a lot of C's & D's my first two years of college, but got straight A's and B's my next 4 years as a Biology major while working as a teacher as well; they love to see growth and perseverance) 3.7 prerequisite GPA (I don't believe they add the multiple attempts for this calculation, hence why mine was so high). Put a lot of time into your personal essay, I hear that's one of the things they consider the most. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have.
  13. Just got the email! Beyond excited. I'm from Houston, so I need to start looking into housing for me and my puppy asap. The only thing that has me stressing now is that my childhood friend's wedding, for which I am the best man, is on the mandatory orientation day (May 5th), and is in Houston. Really hoping that there is a way I can attend both! Also, I'm surprised to see the lack of activity in this thread; hopefully it grows as we get more accepted fellow future nurses!
