Hi everyone, I just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON students who are applying for Summer 2017. I didn't see a thread created for this term yet. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin this long journey. Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Any information on how financial aid works? I'm a little worried because I recall a few students with prior degrees having difficulties getting everything covered.

Can anyone already in the program recommend how many school supplies we should have? Like how many spirals, binders, folders for example... I'm too excited and already ready to start school shopping!!

A question for current students. Which parking garage is the closest and how much is a spot? Who do I contact in the school to discuss and reserve parking? And just any information on this topic would be highly appreciated! I looked on their website, but it is very confusing. Thanks in advance!

With financial aid, youre doing the same thing. Just like a regular fafsa, just add the school and MAKE SURE you dont have other schools added such as previous colleges because it will take longer. UTH itself will split your financial aid for summer fall, etc.

I honestly bought binders for each class just to put my exam reviews there, I also got notebooks for each. Dont use them, just one. Make sure to get a planner.

I guess it just depends what kind of student you are, I know others have different stuff

You can't get parking until you have done the steps as an uploading immunizations, titers, BLS, getting all holds off, insurance hold off, etc. (so cant do reserved parking honestly) Then once you get your ID, you can get parking spot as well since theyre in the same place, which is the tower of UTH- its on fannin street near TWU, you wont miss it lol and its on the first floor. Ummm, yeah hopefully theyre not full. Most people park at the South lot because its $40 a month & you'll always have a parking spot in South. Its never full.

There is a parking garage (#17) that is real close to the school that I park in. It is a 5 minute walk. You arrange the parking fee thru the TMC parking website. They offer a student cost of $96 per month after you send them a copy fo your student id.

I prefer the parking garage so that I dont have to shuttle in to the school.

How long does it usually take for the shuttle to get to UTH from the South Campus Lots?& how often do the shuttles come around?

Also, for the SON/SPH Lots next to UTH do they get full quickly?
