UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Hey guys,

I finally decided to suck it up and post my stats (at the bottom). I'm not too proud of them, so it took me a while...

Good luck to all!

Those are great stats!!! You are right in line with everyone else!!! I am thinking those on this post are the cream of the crop! :) Maybe the other 800 applicant's (not on this post) aren't as high!!!

Ok, well it seems like everything is well now; hopefully.

So what are the lowest stats anyone has seen of somebody making it to the program?

Thanks now or never, I was just really upset about my CT score, I was expecting more from myself in that area...

And yes, although I'm sure there's plenty more out there, those that are posting are probably a decent size scoop from the top of the pot.

Outerism, you've inspired me to post my scores too. I was also feeling bummed about my CT score, but hearing all the positive feedback made me feel a lot better. This thread is amazing (huge thanks to katybusymom for starting it)! I only wish that I had found it before I took my HESI! Regardless, it's awesome to know that despite all of the stress of the "waiting game" we are all in this together.

morning guys, i am counting down till the 20th

everyones stats are soooo high, im sweating bullets

I am curious as to how many of us on the list have degrees either a bachelors &/or masters. I don't think that is a factor for generic but that makes us eligible for the Summer accelerated..

Already having a degree (either Bachelor's or Master's) is a huge admissions plus. Assuming your stats are above the minimum, you'll have a greater chance of being accepted into the Spring program than a comparable candidate without a degree.

I already had a degree but chose to not apply for the accelerated program because I thought it would be too intense. After talking to the students in the accelerated program who had their first semester this summer, I know I made the right choice. It's significantly more challenging and you only graduate 1 month early.

Also, there are a lot of other people in my program who already have degrees as well. So don't think you'll be the only one with a degree in the Spring class, because you won't. :)

I am curious as to how many of us on the list have degrees either a bachelors &/or masters. I don't think that is a factor for generic but that makes us eligible for the Summer accelerated..

Also, I wonder if being an LVN is a plus for admissions? I put it on my application, but not sure if it will help my chances of getting accepted into the program. Any thoughts? :nurse:

MLRP, unfortunately I don't know anything about that. :(

I'm sure that there are LVNs and ADNs in my class but I can't think of any off the top of my head. But we've only been in class for a month and there are about 140 of us, so there are a lot of people I still haven't met yet.
