UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Mine says "Pending status will be updated upon Admission Committee's decision" and I am still taking classes.

Okay then I guess I don't know what I'm talking about! :) Sorry guys, it's been 6 months and things are a bit fuzzy. I went back to my UTLink to see if anything would jog my memory, but unfortunately not.

Katy, if you're called multiple times and they say everything is okay, I would trust them. Obviously they have received your transcripts since you can see them on UTLink and (I'm assuming) your UTLink GPA ia what you expect it to be. Again, same with the TSI- if you have the results listed somewhere on UTLink, they have received it. That being said, I have no idea what the TSI thing is, because I was exempt from it. If it matters, I graduated from high school in 1997 and graduated form college in 2004.

Rocket Surgery, Thanks for all your help!!! You have provided great info all along the way!!!!:yeah:

Specializes in Medical/Surgical Telemetry.

from what i have heard, people who did not meet the qualifications already started receiving letters that they didn't get in as early as last monday. so, katybusymom, as long as you haven't received that and they are telling you that they see everything as having been received on their end, and your transcript eval was ok, I would think that they have everything they need :)

So, a ton of grad schools / professional schools from all over came to my campus today and Houston nursing was one of them. They said notifications won't be sent until mid November.

Yup, my roommate already received a denial letter. She met the HESI score requirement, GPA requirement, but didn't send all her transcripts in time. Actually what really happened was that she didn't keep in contact with admissions to make sure her transcripts all made it, which put her whole application in jeopardy.

Aww Chunky, I'm sorry for your roommate. Did she apply anywhere else?

The denial kinda shook her up so she's a little frazzled. Yea, she's applied elsewhere so that's a good thing.

That's terrible, but this isn't her only opportunity to get into the program. Fall 2012 deadline is coming up! I have told myself if I don't get in, I may cry, it will really suck, but I'll try again next time. I wish her GL.

On a brighter note, the fact that none of us have received a denial notification means we're one step closer! I hope we all get in, I really do. You ladies (and gents) are so helpful, it'd be wonderful to be your classmate.

As they say, 'no news is good news.'

Seriously.

If they're already handing out the denials, acceptances are coming soon. :heartbeat

I host at a certain restaurant in Houston and the other week I was taking this girl to a table and she looked REALLY familiar. Long story short, we had A&P together @ San Jac and she just graduated UTHSC this past spring! OMG She said it's the #1 school in the US, it's better than Boston U, the teachers are so awesome, she had such an easy time finding a job, etc. Hearing how great her experience was, I know this is where I want to be.
