This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
The graduate program ranks at #21 in the country, not sure about the BSN program though.
Technically, that's for the Master's program, but that's what they told all of us in the BSN program- top 5%, top 20, etc. AFAIK, the faculty for the BSN program and the Master's program are the same. I ran into the same issue when I was trying to find out the rankings for myself. What I concluded was that BSN (undergrad) nursing programs aren't ranked on their own; you just have to go by the ranking for the whole undergrad institution.
So since I couldn't find a ranking for the HBU, TWU or UTMB nursing programs, I just had to go by either the school-wide ranking or the master's program ranking.
I will say that I have no regrets about choosing UTH. Our 1st semester faculty are AWESOME, and even the "average" ones are still significantly superior to most of the professors I've come across in my educational career (Tulane University & Houston Baptist for 1st degree, Houston Community College for pre-reqs).
I called and left a message for a BSN advisor to call me back regarding my UTLink status. I don't want my application thrown out on a technicality, better to be safe than sorry.
The receptionist told me that all of the advisors are off campus today because they are recruiting!!! UGH!! But there is an info session tomorrow, so they will be back on campus :)
My UTLink GPA is the same as what I calculated and all of my classes match my transcript evaluation. I do have classes in progress and it says that on UTLink, so I'm not sure why it still says "documents not received". I've turned everything in.
@Rocket Surgery, I'm TSI exempt as well, so I'm not sure why it still says "not received".
Hopefully, I'll get it all cleared up tomorrow.
This waiting is KILLING me !!!!
My academic transcripts also say "not received" but down at the school where I am taking pre-requisites it says"in-progress" so I think they received all my transcripts but they probably won't change the "not received" until my final transcript is in with all my classes. Also..my transcript eval showed all the classes to date so I know they everything.
To each their own, but there is sure to be some alumni bias involved in her opinion. For all of the national college rankings for the past two years that I've looked at this past year, UT Austin, Baylor and TWU all show on the list, but UTHSC is such a small and specialized school that it didn't even make the list (of top 250 or so). It's hard to say where it places...Needless to say though, it's a very good school.
Her enthusiasm really got me going! Lol I just took her word for it
now-or-never,
I think you might be in my CPR class through the Junior League. The one last Wednesday and next at St. Luke's? I'm Catherine, short, brown hair pulled up, 42, last week in the front right facing video. Hope to meet you if we are in class together.
And, for everyone else, I highly recommend this class. Painless and surprisingly fun (admittedly, I need to get a life).
