This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
Guys, I am in a major pickle! I just got a transcript evaluation ( i made them send me one to my current address b/c i hadn't gotten mine) anyway, it says that my nutrition and philosophy class are missing. However, I took this classes this past summer and sent a transcript to houston. I am freaking out b/c it is so late in the decision process. I will be calling them tomorrow so that they can fix it. But now i am worried that this will affect my admission decision. Think this will affect it? I made A's in both of the classes so it would def boost up my gpa!!

Email the school at [email protected] and tell them about the mistake. They got back to me about my transcript evaluation error within hours. Much faster than waiting on someone to call you back!

Probably best to send an email to explain your situation. Might be even better to call someone in the Registrars office to explain your predicament. Not exactly sure what they'll tell you unless those two courses puts you under the 40 credit minimum to apply. Your GPA would be higher if those courses are included, which pushes your overall/prereqs up.
hey i looked at when the first one found out about admission in the fall and it was 7 weeks after the deadline. that would be around october 19th for us!!! hope we all get good news. we all have great stats!!!!
haha! i also counted the weeks between the fall 2011 deadline and when people started to receive notifications. 7 weeks . i have the week of october 17th marked on my calendar as "the week of reckoning!!!"
@masterglb i think as long as you make the min score (750) in crit thinking, you're ok. especially with a freakin 96% on your hesi exam !! i went to the last info session and they said a competitive critical thinking score is from 750-1000. i've also read previous posts in the fall 2011 thread where 2 individuals made 760s on theirs and were accepted. i postulate the critical thinking section is to show you can already rationalize most situations. the rest, they should teach us.
i remember one ct question was about a patient's family member giving me (the nurse) a food gift of sorts. should i: politely decline the offer? accept it and share it in the common area (for the other nurses)? take the box for myself and not share it? or do something else pretty nefarious?
i'm pretty sure i did not choose the wicked response
the fact that the classes are not complete won't matter. the only requirement is that you finish those (or in your case prove that you've taken them) before spring. the only effect is that your gpa might be a little higher than what they're tracking, since they're without those 2 a's.
@ftrnrs2011 totally agree with heavy. it doesn't matter as long as you still met the 40 hr min. as the admission folks said, having all 60 prereqs completed does not give anyone an advantage. people have been admitted to the program with only 40!
best thing to do, though, is to email them (just like spring hopeful said). the turn around time is mo better than calling. emailing goes much faster if you include your university id # you use to log into utlink. just explain your situation and i promise they will fix it or if they haven't received your transcript (for w/e reason) they'll letcha know.
