Hello friends!
I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:
A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?
Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!!
Ahhhh! I'm filling out a few different apps, so it's possible it actually did ask for it and I'm just confusing it with another application. I do know that I did not include volunteer information on my application though ....great.
Anyway, for those of you who have already submitted your application, does everything on your to-do list say "initiated" under status? I submitted my transcripts about a month or so ago and HESI scores approx 2 weeks ago, but it hasn't updated. I know it's still a bit early in the process, but I'm curious. August 15th will be here before we know it!
Hello everyone, I've just finished taking A&P I and ended up with a B. I will be starting A&P II this Thursday and will try my hardest to receive an A. It's so good to see all of your awesome gpa's and Hesi scores. Sadly, I may have ruined my chances of getting into UT because it took me three times to pass one section on the Hesi. I wish you all the best of luck on getting in and through the nursing program.
I applied before my HESI scores, and I was not happy with my Anatomy score, and I retook the HESI 2 weeks later. UTH did not have a problem. THey received both sets and will only use the most recent. That being said:
Overall ~3.1-3.2
Science ~3.5
Pre-Req ~ 3.85-3.9 (Only 1 B)
Previous Degree Bachelor's in Arts Neuroscience & Behavior (Science weighted, challenging, double major Bio/Psych combined track)
HESI
Math 96
Grammar 92
Vocabulary 92
Reading Comprehension 96
Anatomy 84
Critical Thinking 920
I applied for Pacesetter Spring '17. Only one transcript via snail mail outstanding.
Currently taking Nutrition, Microbio and APII in the fall. (I took APII, but at a school where lab was limited to Nursing and Kinesiology students, so I have to retake it with a lab, and Microbio I did not take because I replaced it with Pathophysiology and Advanced Cell bio).
Also applied to TWU, UTA, TAMU CC... and deciding whether to take the GRE and apply to AE MSN as well.

Wow, your stats are great. I know UT is ok with you taking the Hesi twice, but three times they may look at my app with a side eye!
I made an account to post here because I'm applying for Spring '17 and really worried about if I can get in!!
Overall GPA: 3.9
Pre-req GPA: 4.0
Science GPA: 3.83
HESI overall: 94
Reading: 92
Grammar: 96
Vocab: 100
Anatomy: 84
Math: 98
I have several years of CNA experience (home health & assisted living, not hospital), one study abroad medical internship and just a semester of hospital volunteering.
I know UTH is competitive so I also applied to UH but I have absolutely no idea what my chances are! And I read on this thread that they want at least 85 on each HESI section so I wonder if I should re-take the HESI to get up my Anatomy score (84 ugh lol)

That's really awesome, pappa22v! I took the HESI exam at the end of June. Right now, I'm studying for the TEAS exam to meet requirements for more schools.
HESI total - 96.4%
Vocabulary - 100%
Anatomy and Physiology - 100%
Grammar - 98%
Math - 94%
Reading Comprehension - 90%
Critical Thinking - 950
GPA is currently a 3.6 (i think...)
I'm taking micro and nutrition in the fall.
There is actually nothing on my to-do list. About two weeks after I sent my transcripts I still had them all listed under "to-do" so I contacted the registrar and she confirmed that they had received them, and that same day everything disappeared from my to-do list. Even the HESI, which I have not taken yet (last time I took it was in 2012). So I am not sure what is going on :/
are you taking it under their code on August 2? If so, yes, it will get to them in time. They said they get results at the end of each moth, but if there is a deadline in the middle of the month, those scores are sent mid month to UT.
How did you contact the registrar? by phone or email?
