Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

GOOD LUCK with your Nursing career plans.

Hey... I got accepted for UT Health Summer 2016.

So, for your courses, I had to retake some of mine too and they told me they calculate everything when they determine your cumulative but if you had to retake Anatomy for example... they would calculate the HIGHER grade when calculating your science GPA. You might need at least a C in your english class (if thats one of the pre-reqs) I can't remember if it is or not.

HESI is not that hard. I mean, Anatomy was the hardest for me but really just practice the book over and over. It's a very good study guide for you. Let me know if you need anything else. I'll be happy to help!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. A&P was hard for me too. So far I'm looking at a 3.2 science and 3.5 overall. I'm thinking about retaking AP1 bc its weighing my grade now. I don't think my gpa would really compete with other students averages so I'm retaking classes in the summer.

Congrats on getting accepted! That's amazing!

Hi everyone!

I will be applying for this term as well!

STATS:

Current overall gpa: 3.45 - 3.5 (not exactly sure)

Science gpa: 3.33 - 3.4 (not exactly sure)

HESI - I am planning to take it in July

I will have completed about 50-60 credit hours of prerequisites as well by the end of this current semester. No previous degree earned.

I am retaking the hesi because I did not do so well in the a&p part the first time:unsure:

I will be applying in the spring as well!

GPA 3.6

Science: 3.87

from what I can recall.

I am taking the HESI at the end of this month! Do y'all have any tips for study? I recently scored an 86 on the TEAS V.

Stats:

Current overall GPA: 3.67 BS in Health

Science GPA: 3.5ish (still waiting on microbio)

Also applying for Spring 2017 :)

I heard the Teas is harder than the hesi. If you did well with the Teas you should be fine for the hesi.

0Hello everyone, I plan to apply to this program, TWU, UTA, Lamar, and SHSU after I finish my pre-reqs this summer. Also, I still have to take the Hesi and Teas test this summer as well. I have attended three colleges throughout my college career and do not have the best GPA at either one of them. The school I am currently attending my stats are as follows:

Overall GPA: 2.5

Pre-Req GPA: 3.5

Science GPA: 4.0

Hello Everyone!

I will also be applying for this term :) I currently have a 3.9 overall GPA and a 3.6 science GPA. I will be taking the HESI in a week and I am super nervous! I will share my experience as soon as I take it.

Wish everyone the best of luck!

I will be taking the Hesi this Saturday followed by the Teas on Monday. Crazy right? Studying for both tests is not easy. Hopefully both of the study guides will help me more on each exam. Good luck everyone, hope to see you in the Spring!
