Hello friends!
I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:
A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?
Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!!
YellowRoseofTX, that is the wrong class! All of the Junior League BLS Healthcare Provider courses are 2 nights. I know this for a fact.
I signed up with the Junior League for my CPR as well, I'm taking mine on 11/5 8:30am-11:30am!I also love hearing where everyone is coming from (in life) and can't wait to meet everyone (being positive here)! I'm also a wee bit older returning student, I graduated with my Bachelors back in 2002! I've been taking the prereq classes over the years and finally got serious about completing everything this past year. I moved back home after living out of state for the past 8 years a year ago and I'm determined to finally succeed in my goal to become a nurse.
Has anyone received a transcript eval over the past week or so?? I'm still hoping to get one. I also went back and reread Spring 2016 discussions and saw they heard on October 26th! Here's hoping we hear early too!
I am in the progress of getting my Hep B immunizations. I got the first shot in June, the second in July, and will get the final shot in December.
I got the meningitis immunizations even though they arent required for my age. It was suggested to me that I should get it anyways, so I figured why not.... It was covered 100 % by my insurance.
Does anyone know if we are cleared by the BON for another program by going thru their fingerprinting and background check and recieve our "blue card" stating that our file is clear, if UTH will accept that? I got my card this week clearing me :)
I went thru the process for HCC's program since I have been accepted there and it is my backup plan.
I guess my to do list includes calling to get a drs appt to see about the titers and TB test.
I took my my final for intro to Ethics yesterday, so I am also waiting for that grade. That is the last class that I needed.
I am also taking a Chemistry class (for a refresher, got an A in a chemistry class years ago that they said they will accept), so I will probably wait to send my transcript in when that posts.
