Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

You guys are so lucky to have gotten a transcript eval. I still haven't received one which makes me nervous because there are people who recieved them only to have found out that whoever evaluated them had made mistakes regarding acceptance of their classes. I hope everything processes correctly!

I'm also still showing incomplete with a yellow triangle & initiated for one of my transcripts.

I am showing the same thing! Its so stressful :/

Yes, very... If we're lucky, we'll find out in 6 weeks! If we're unlucky, 8 weeks.

Everyone keep us updated... Let's us know of any status updates or transcript evaluations you recieve!

Do not stress out, they are really quick and efficient about reevaluating any class you feel may have been miscredited. And most colleges have a rule that they will not begin the transfer credit evaluation process until you are already enrolled (it's happened to me twice). It is just an appeal review process. I had a class that I felt should have been counted differently, but it was an out-of state school, so the course numbering.naming convention was different. It was evaluated immediately, cleared the same day, and that's the only reason I was issued a revised transcript evaluation. Since you are in-state, you shouldn't worry... there's protocols for the common core course numbers. They have tons of experience.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Hi all! I know I'm a little late to the party, but wanted to contribute and share my stats. Getting accepted to UT SON -Houston would be a dream come true/miracle. I I applied the first time for Fall 2010, but was rejected (obviously) because I just wasn't competitive. Ever since, my dream of becoming a nurse, has been looming over my head like a dark cloud. I tried improving my gpa, and have had some success, but ultimately it's taken this long to reapply because in between, I got married, had children, felt tied down with work/financial necessity...etc. ALL the time that's gone by has lit a fire in me to continue the journey and keep "pounding the rock" until I get accepted. I wish everyone the best, and hope you can send some good vibes my way.

Those are great, great stats!! I know you WILL get in!

Hi Everyone! When will we find out if we were accepted or not? Looking back on different threads it looks like it took them about a month to find out. The sooner the better!!

Hey guys!

So I was checking my "to do list" and I noticed my hesi scores were still on the list. I freaked out! I called the registrar office and they didn't have them (this was 9/20). It was my fault I guess b/c I did my hesi first and then applied. SO BEWARE! They received my scores and there was no application to apply it to so they paced it on a "pending file" Then after calling several times I was told they had found them 9/23 and they would be uploaded that day. But my hesi score are still in my to do list still. Not sure what to do....

@wickedstar21 - I have the same thing on my to do list and I called a few weeks back and they confirmed they had them. I also emailed them and received no response in a week. I dont know what to do either. ugh!

@wickedstgar21 - Question : Did you use the UT code for the HESI? I am seriously so over this whole process. The first time I called they said they would accept it as long as the stamp was before September 1 (UT deadline) and now the second time I called (today) they said that if they did not receive it at ut by September 1st, they would not accept it. Its total BS. I am so frustrated with this whole ordeal.

@Nurse2bkd00 This is a frustrating process for sure, I'm sorry for the additional chaos you're encountering. I just wanted to say I know many people experience getting mixed/inconsistent information when contacting UTH (it's infuriating)! I hate to suggest calling again to see what kind of answer you get but it may help...or couldn't hurt!?! Just from my understanding with them they would accept your HESI scores as long as the test date was before the application deadline. Having to have them to them by the deadline WAS NOT a contingency. I applied to TAMU as well and remember being ticked at them because they required scores to be there by the deadline and UTH did not (like I said earlier just required test taken before deadline). Anyways, maybe call again...
