Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Yep... Nothing left to do except wait! I just wish that I could get a transcript evaluation because I have taken several different courses that could go towards the math, visual & performing arts, and elective credits, and I'd like to know which classes they will be using to calculate my pre-req GPA.

Also, I'm thinking about applying for the Summer term too... just in case. Anybody else planning on doing that? If so, are you waiting to apply after admission decisions are out for Spring 2017 or submitting an app now?

Hi @ AHawkins - I am planning to submit an application for the summer if I don't get into the Spring term. If I don't get in, I will also be debating in re-taking my HESI again. I am just hoping I get in for the Spring term. Waiting is the worse!

Hello everyone,

I just submitted my application on 8/30 for Spring 2017... cutting it closed i know.

Just a question, does anyone have still their applications status still showed incomplete? I took my hesi wayy before i submitted the applications (took the test jun 30, applied august 30), but on my to do list its still shows the HESi score missing :( I did called the admission and they said they had received my score, but it is still show missing on my to do list even though deadline have already passed. Now my application shows it's incomplete, plus since i'm still taking class at hcc my transcript is still showing... and I'm freaked out... Any answer would be greatly appreciated, because I'm in paranoid season right now.

And just for reference, here is my score :

General GPA : 3.65

Science GPA : er... idk ._. I didn't have it evaluated, but I'm guessing it's higher than my general GPA.

HESI average : 87.6%

Reading: 90

Grammar: 82

Vocab: 96

Math: 90

AP: 80

CT: 890

Funny how the parts i studied the most (AP & Grammar) were the one i scored the lowest, which just made me really frustrated :(! If i didn't get accepted this year, i will re-take it and apply for both summer & fall 2017! UTHealth GO!

Finger crossed for everyone... Nov 15th can't come soon enough :(

I think that since you just finalized your application, they haven't matched your HESI to your application yet. Don't worry, if they said they received it, it will come off. It took mine about a month to fall off after application submitted.

Also, they say that if we are still taking classes, that transcript will stay on the TO DO list, but don't worry about that.

Wow, you all have great Hesi scores and GPA's! I am so happy for guys and I hope that you all get accepted. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to pass one section of the Hesi and raise my overall gpa before I apply. I messed around in my earlier college years and I'm having the hardest to fixing my mistakes. Additionally, I keep failing the same section on the Hesi! Thankfully, my pre-req gpa and science gpa are pretty decent; I just need to get past the entrance exam!

Anyone know when we can expect letter of acceptance or rejection?

The UTHSC website gives November 15th as the date, but in previous years, they have found out earlier. Last Spring they started sending out notifications around the 26th of October. Either way... We have a long while to go lol.

Overall GPA: 3.8

Science GPA: 4.0

HESI overall: 89% anatomy being my lowest of 84%

BUT, a CT of 740 :( I know the recommended was a 750 and I see everyone has much higher CT score so I'm not really expecting to get in. I was thinking of retaking it and reapplying for next fall.

Thank you Jennmv :) That's what i think too, but it always good to hear it from other people rather than my own mind to confirm it...

Btw, your stat ROCK! And to consider you have a full time job and children to take care of. Wow.

Just another question, does for application still show as incomplete? Cause mine still is, and I hope the incomplete status doesn't make them neglect looking at my application ._.

Thank you!

Yes, mine does show incomplete, they said that it will say that due to the transcript issue, but that I shouldn't worry.

Mine says incomplete as well! I called to ask if they had all of my stuff and they said that they did and it should take about a week or two to update in the system.

Found this on the tour page. I know, I know... I'm impatient lol. I, like some of you guys, still have an incomplete status. I just wish there was a way to be 100% sure that everything has been received and courses have been evaluated properly!

Q: If I attend a tour, can I bring in my transcripts to be evaluated?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have the staff available to conduct unofficial prerequisite evaluations, however there is a wealth of information on our website to guide you through that process. All applicants who apply and submit official transcripts will receive a prerequisite evaluation as a part of the application process.
