Hello friends!
I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:
A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?
Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!!
Hello everyone!
I am also applying for the Spring 2017 admissions and I am so nervous! I have been following this and past forums for awhile now but only got around to making an account just now haha I submitted my application last July and I am kinda paranoid and confused because of how easy the application process was
My status is "complete" so does that mean I have nothing to worry about? Hopefully? But anyways...my stats are as follows:
overall GPA: 3.95
science GPA: 4.0
hesi
math: 98%
a&p:84%
grammar:92%
reading:80%
vocab: 90%
critical thinking: 860
I know my scores aren't that great but I am hoping for the best!! I am just wishing and praying that all of us are going to get in nice to meet all of you :)
Hi all!
I applied to UT Nursing-Houston for the Spring 2017 admission and am hoping to be accepted. My GPA isn't so strong because I played a lot in my early years of college, but I've retaken a lot of classes so I hoping that influences my acceptance probability.
My stats are:
Previous Nutrition Bachelors
3.21 Overall GPA
3.23 Science GPA
Overall HESI: 88.67%
Reading & Comprehension: 96%
Grammar: 92%
Vocabulary: 94%
English: 94%
Biology: 80%
A&P: 80%
Math: 90%
CT: 850
Prayers to everyone who has applied. I hope we all get in.
Hello all,
I am applying to UTH Spring 2017 and I really hope I get in. I applied for Fall 2016 and was rejected.
I have a bachelors degree but did horrible during the first couple of years of my undergraduate career so my overall GPA is really bad. I am pretty sure that this had something to do with me not getting accepted, however, I've seen in previous forums that people with all types of GPAs and scores get accepted.
My stats are:
Overall GPA: 2.75
Nursing Pre-Reqs: 3.4
Science Pre-Reqs: 3.75
Overall HESI: 88.57%
Math: 96%
Reading: 82%
Grammar: 90%
Vocab: 92%
A&P: 84%
Critical Thinking: 860
By the way, I think transcript evaluations are sent randomly. I received two last year but was not accepted, and there were others who also received them and were accepted. Then there were others who never received one and were accepted so I think it is definitely random.

Hello,
I took the hesi Aug 30th (a day before you) and it sucked for me. They gave me four hours for all sections and when i was done there was only 1 minute left on the clock! So basically i was rushing through the last three sections made an 84% on the A&P and you are right, more than half the questions were not on the hesi practice review. But oh well don't despair, my friend got in and she scored in the 80%s on her hesi. Wish you luck!
You all literally brought all my nerves up with ALL of your super ridiculously high scores on everything!!! My stats are completely different from all of you
GPA: 3.70
SCIENCE GPA: 3.50
HESI OVERALL: 86
never retaken a class and also HESI= only attempt
Does anyone happen to know why some with higher GPA's and higher HESI scores get denied? It's all so confusing.
No clue why the higher scores get in. How do they decide if all they have are our scores and stats? Its not like schools that have an interview?
Maybe some with ridiculously high gpa's got them due to retaking classes until they got the a's? who knows?
I have never retaken a class and I only had one attempt on the HESI.
Yeah, there's a page full of things they consider besides GPA & HESI, but those are supposedly the main determining factors. There's strong speculation that it's a lottery system lol, but we don't know how they go about picking. They could take into account so many different things (class retakes, HESI retakes, where the prereqs were take, whether you were a full time student, if you were working) The list goes on...
I don't think they look at volunteer work, but who knows.

I just applied today. Eek! I've had the application filled out since June but wasn't sure if I wanted to submit it with my HESI scores. My a&p score was below 75. The procrastinator in me never retook it, so I decided last minute this evening to just go for it. Can't be accepted if I don't try. My stats are:
pre-req gpa- 3.5
science gpa- 4.0
math- 92
language- 90
reading comp- 90
vocabary- 90
a&p- 73
ct- 910
good luck to everyone!! Hope to meet you all in January! í ½í¸
