UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

This might be a stupid question but is taking the NET August 22 too late for a September 1 application deadline? Do y'all know how long it takes for for the school to receive the results after the test is taken? I hope all is well with everyone.

I was going to take the August 22nd date too, but that's just cutting it too close for my taste. Plus, I would like to have a back up date just in case something happens and I need to retake it. I'm singing up for the august 1st date instead.

ok UT got my NET scores on file today when i checked my UTLink but i can't view my scores!I can't believe i have to wait until Monday to have it mailed.Is there anyway I can find out from my UT link what my scores were?

as far as you guys taking your nets late don't worry about it. I got into the fall 09 program and i took them december 20 something and apps were due on jan 15th! However i didnt' go throught the NET services i took my NET at the testing center at UHouston. THis is if you cannot make the already scheduled test dates ( i had work and i couldn't get off) you can always outsource your test and have them fedex your scores to the school.Just call the NET people and let them know you want to outsource the NET and ask them for a list of references for testing centers. ( I picked U houston b/c i was still finishing up my bachelors over there plus if you take it at U houston its paper based and make sure you let them know that you need to take the science portion as well otherwise they won't give it to you). I should warn you though it will cost you extra but i was willing to pay that instead of missing a day of work where i wouldn't get paid... if you guys have any questions don't hesitate to private message me. good luck you guys and i hope to see you guys around next spring! :)

I need recommend about the NET study guides, there are a lot on the shelves . I have one from Barron, but I would like to buy another one to make sure my score good enough. Anyone took NET already can tell, pleaseeeee!!

I wanted to let everyone know that the Texas A&M Health Science Center in College Station, TX is hoping to start an accelerated nursing program for this coming spring (Spring 2010)! It would be a 15 month program (Ending in May 2011) and you would need a baccalaureate to be eligible. Here is the prereq list: http://nursing.tamhsc.edu/accelerated-prerequisite-table-new1.pdf. They will probably release the application sometime in Mid July and will be admitting 22 students. The program is growing by leaps and bounds (currently they have about 90 students but will be growing to over 100 in the next year) and is hiring new faculty every semester. The program will be moving into a new facility in Fall 2010 which will house a giant, top-of-the-line simulations center and classrooms.

The program they're wanting to start has to jump through a couple more administrative hoops, but they should be announcing it within the next week or so. If you call into their office the will NOT know much about the program. Just keep checking back at the website, or PM me if you have questions. :) Just a heads up for all our future nurses!

Hello! I am a Spring 2010 applicant. I have already submitted all my info minus the NET (which I take August 1st) and the PHIL, ART, A&P II which I will be taking in the fall. I wanted to say hello and compare Stats so we can check each others status throughout this process. I see that the Fall 09 class did this and I found it very informational. There were people with better GPA's than mine who didnt get interviews, and I found out it was because of low reading scores on the NET test. Has anyone taken the NET and if so could you suggest a study guide or any tips? Also, I was under the assumption you could only take the NET once a year that you cant just keep re-taking it if you dont do well like I have seen people say in the previous messages. I am really nervous and am applying to UTMB as a backup just in case. Any comparison or info would be great.
