UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

Published

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

i will find out monday at my interview if we were the last interview session

I hope your interview went well Emag! I withdrew my application this morning. I received an updated transcript evaluation this past saturday and I would be short one prereq for the spring. However, I got accepted into the Lonestar Kingwood ADN program starting in January so that's what I'm doing. I can always finish up at UT with an RN to BSN! So best of luck to all of you. I hope you make it in and we are taking the NCLEX together in the summer of 2011!

Yayyyyyyy! My interview was today and it went awesome!!! My lady spent about 45 min talking to me and everyone else got about 10 min with the other lady. There were only 9 of us. She must have liked talking to me I assume? :) I found out that TODAY WAS THE LAST INTERVIEW. They said Nov 15th was the latest they would be sending out letters. Hopefully its sooner. I also found out that clinicals start about 3-4 weeks into the first semester so you better get started on your HEP B series. I dont think you can start your clinicals without that and CPR. Seeing all the students in their scrubs today made it so real and exciting. I hope I get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES! You cannot start clinical until all your shots are complete and Hep B takes 6mo to finish!

So I spoke with someone today about orientation and it is indeed December 10. Poop. I guess I can start planning my winter holiday.

I thought that I recieved my Hep B vaccine series as a child. If I did is that something I would need to get redone?

No don't redo it if you know you definitely got the series as a child. YES! i'm so glad the last interviews were yesterday! just a few more weeks!!! :)

Unless you're pretty young, you wouldn't have gotten them as a child. They're a pretty recent addition to the vaccination list. HTH!

Do you think they'll let you start clinicals if you're done with the first two? I'll get my last one it late march of 2010 since i started this past september.

the nurse at the clinic i went to said that hep b wasn't on the normal childhood vaccination list until the late late 80s or early 90s.

i was born in 89 and had my Hep B when i was in elementary school

Specializes in none as of yet, hoping for ped oncology!.

My understanding of the situation is that you must have the series started before clinicals, not completed. They know that the series takes 6 months to complete, and the first vaccine does provide you with some protection. UT also offers vaccinations for its incoming students.

This is the way I have understood it as well. I'm pretty sure this subject was brought up a few weeks ago on this thread and the requirements and the actual form were attached to a post.

I called up to my surgical tech program to see if the director of the program could pull my file from the archive because I had to have the series started to do surgery and she said it used to be "started" ...now its supposed to be completed by clinicals. Thats what she told me at least but it wouldnt hurt to find out straight from the horses mouth
