hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.
Can't wait to hear from others.
I attended an informational session for UT Houston yesterday. The speaker said that they would accept net scores from the Sept 12th test. Everything else must be in by the deadline. She also said that no one with net scores lower than 70's in math and reading will be interviewed.
Since they are still taking NET scores from the Sept 12 test date, do they still take scores through pearson view as well after Sept 1st? Im taking the NET on Aug 24 and im not sure im going to do so good on that so I want to take another one a week later to get a higher score just in case.
I got my scores back about a week ago, but was at camp helping as a counselor this past week :)
I know you guys will ROCK the test next time you take it! The reading comp is very hard, but I think the best advice i can give to you is to skim the reading passage and get familiar with the 4 questions they could ask you about it. I received a 94% composite score (I took it the first weekend of august)! :) good luck to everyone taking the test in the near future and if anyone needs advice or tips, don't hesitate in asking!
Hello All
myself Spring 2010 UT HSC SON hopefullll
I am taking NET through Pearson veu. next week. i will appriciate if some body can clarify some questions i have about the computerbased NET test
1) Can you move back to read the reading paragraph once you move on for the questions for that para in reading comp.
2)Or if the screen is devided in to two parts where we can see paragraph and question on the screen at the same time.
3) can you choose which section you want to do first. (reading or math)
nope one question shy of a 70 on reading.....that was my 4th time. I am at a plateau. I cant study anything I havent already studied. I have done a million practice tests. I have hit a wall. I wish the reading passages would change so I could have a fresh read but nope its ears, primevil medicine, and sleep patterns. Oh well. I am a staright A student and the frustration is palpable so I dont care anymore. I will continue to retake it until the deadline but if my score isnt where it needs to be then UTMB will be my new focus.
Does anyone know if you start at UTMB you can transfer to UT-Houston? Just curious.

That really stinks! Standardized tests really don't show study habits or how well you do at school, so it's really frustrating to see test scores that don't correlate with your grades at school. I've always had trouble with standardized tests, but my younger sister always excelled. however, i've always done better at school...soooo yeah... there's give and take. during her senior year in high school, she got all of these packages from yale, princeton, brown, harvard, MIT, etc., but i know she would've died if she went to those schools (she agrees). LOL ack...i'm not sure if i helped any, but I just wanted to encourage you!
Also, since UTMB and UT houston are different branches under UT, it will be very hard for you to transfer unless you have a very good reason. also... none/nearly none of your nursing courses will transfer between the two schools
I am not going to give up. The pressure is off though. I know I am smart enough and my gpa is a reflection of that so if I am meant to go to UT-H then I will. If not, I am very confident that I would be offered a slot there at UTMB. I will keep retaking it until I am satisfied. I heard that they are accepting the NET score from the Sep 12th testing date. Does that mean that I have until the 12th to take the computer based through Pearson View? I would assume that would only be fair

Call and ask them how late they are accepting scores. I know in past years they have accepted scores that are beyond the cut off date for application purposes.
I know you said you are not giving up, but I want to encourage you anyway. I don't know what your math scores are, but if your GPA is high and your math score is high, that can make up for the difference in reading. The NET score is only 33% of the scoring system they use for admission. The interview and your GPA each account for 33% also.
thats exactly how i did on those sections too. i brushed up on that today even though it doesnt matter. So should I be content if I make above a 70 on reading? I made a 97 on math. What exactly did you get on reading again? I am thinking if I get like above a 70 I should just stick with it.
They are looking for a 75% to 80% overall score, with about a 70 in reading. If you got a 97 in math, I think you will be fine.
Thanks Amomin2006! I'm applying for the ACC BSN Summer 2010 and I was very concerned about my prereqs GPA. It's about a 3.7 but my science is a 4.0.Didn't know if the 3.7 would be good enough! Taking the NET in September.
They have taken students in the past with a 3.25 GPA, so a 3.7 is fine!

My score was 65
. Math was a breeze but ugh, if I can crack reading comp to 75 I will be contempt with my scores. Im not sure, but I sucked at at all the section, my scores were even distributed. How do you approach each section of the reading comprehension? And did you get the same test over again?
