Hi everyone,

I have been following this thread getting some insight into the interview process and I just received my letter yesterday. My interview is on March 2nd and I am trying to not be nervous! Everyone has given great advice and since I know that the interview is such a small percentage, I am just going to go in and be myself. Good luck to everyone!!

aggienurse: I was in the gray skirt with glasses. I wasn't called right away but there was still about 5 or 6 people when I finally got called.

My interview went better than I thought. The interviewer was SO nice, too. And funny. Even the admissions lady who took me upstairs was all "Don't be nervous, she's really nice." And I was talking to someone after who said they're interviewer was really nice too. It really helps when they make you feel comfortable.

At first I thought I was having trouble explaining myself because she asked me a few times "what do you mean by [something I just said]?" but then the interviewer was all "I just want to get it right for you" when she was writing it down. She would even read back what she wrote for my answers and was all "Anything else you want to add or do you want to go to the next question?" I was like OMG I LOVE YOU hahaha

I can't wait until April!! I'm glad the interview is finally over with, though.

Edit: Some people have mentioned before that the interviewers just ask HOW MANY Ws, Fs, and Ds you have.. But my interviewer wanted to know what classes and if I retook them what grade did I get the second time, etc. So make sure you remember your grades or bring a transcript if you think it'll help! I wasn't expecting all that.

But it's actually nice because if your interviewer is your advocate to the admissions board then if they know all the bad scores or Ws you have they can better help you but if they pull up your transcript and there's suddenly all these bad grades they'll be like "Oh, she didn't tell me about those.."

Anyone wanna share their Ws Fs and Ds?

I said I had 2 Ds and they were for my biology plan

I switched from biology to nusing because of time

but I am still in the healthcare industry

My sister in law called the school today and asked them a few questions. She asked how many students were being interviewed and how many would be accepted. The admissions lady told her they had 1200 people apply and 230-250 got interviews. She said you should really feel great if you've made it this far because you beat out about 1,000 other applicants. She said the school will be selecting 130 out of the 230-250 applicants. That's pretty good odds for us!

Well, that is much better odds. It sounds like everyone did pretty well at their interview....I don't feel that great about mine. I feel sick because I really don't think I did well enough to get in but I guess I have to just wait and see. Thanks for the info, it makes me feel a little better.

I felt kind of the same but you have to stay positive!! I'm usually a worry person so with stuff like this I'm always like "OhmyGod, I'm not gonna get in" lol. But you can't think like that! Just try to be optimistic and keep yourself busy until the letters get sent out.

Did anyone apply for financial aid yet?

sigh* this thread is going nowhere.

FOR ANYBODY WHO REALLY NEEDS HELP OR AN INSIGHT ABOUT THE PROCESS I SUGGEST GOING BACK ONE SEMESTER

https://allnurses.com/tx-nursing-programs/ut-houston-spring-383641.html

^^ its alot of threads but it is really helpful!

for the interview you basically need

-a resume

-dress businesslike

-expect to be there the whole day

-interviews are starting at 11:30

-questions are going to be general

-and a critical thinking essay

-and they give u a sample schedule and explain how you can handle it

Kellywood- i cant private message you cause i dont have 15 posts yet :/

Apriljoy30 and anybody else who want to help each other out ... we should exchange emails or something!!; apriljoy i also met a girl that got in last semester :) i can share with you too!

I know we are all competition but we are all in the same boat and we should be encouraging each other! Some ppl think its okay to fetch specific info only for themselves and then have the nerve to merely suggest others not to share input after their interview. I NEVER ASKED FOR SPECIFIC INFO BOUT THE INTERVIEW, i just wondered how many ppl got their interview letter!

past forums have done nothing but be helpful to each other. i respect what you want to keep to yourself but i dont respect petty suggestions. if u get accepted in, rmr those ppl are STILL your competition til the end but past semesters still help each other out... they work together but it just depends on the person to finish the process... same goes for the interview!

gosh, i feel like this is a forum for a business interview!

Juliieejellybean and AprilJoy30,

I have my interview the 2nd of March; any chance you could share some tips? I can't private message yet since I'm a newbie to the forum, so could you message me? I'm specifically anxious about the critical thinking essay since I've seen conflicting posts about topics. I know there were some hot debates going on earlier in this forum... so no pressure if you don't feel like sharing! :)

And by the way, for those with the alphabetical theory - my last name starts with C... and I'm pretty late, so there still may be hope for you guys if you're in the beginning of the alphabet and still holding out for an interview letter (I got mine late last week). I was sooo excited when I got my letter; I had given up hope at that point - but here I am, scared but SUPER pumped to interview!

Good luck everyone still left to interview!! :)

It'd be cool if the accepted people could all meet up downtown somewhere to celebrate and start a Fall 2010 support group. Maybe people who didn't make it in could go too and get tips from those who made it in... just an idea! Not sure if everyone would be comfortable with that though due to privacy concerns.

Cheers!

Had my interview today. The lady was really nice. Is it April 1st yet?

natatat,

I called financial aid today and my advisor said all you need to do right now is fill out the fafsa. The forms haven't been updated yet and wont be available until mid march.

35 days more...of waiting

I hope this waiting won't be just a disappointment

i know i'm already looking into somewhere close to campus to live......I'd be so dissapointed........good luck everyone!!!

I was wondering who I should take my CPR class through?

I saw the American Heart Association has a three hour class called BLS for Healthcare Providers and the Red Cross has an eight hour class called CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Which one do we need to take?
