As nurses we are supposed to understand and follow science. Yet all over the country nurses are using their background to validate crackpot theories about Covid and the vaccine. Should there be consequences for leading an effort to hurt the public health? After all, it violates basic nursing ethics in particular, do no harm. Should boards of nurses sanction these people or should the ANA or other associations put out a statement saying these folk don't represent us?
Unfortunately, in this pandemic not even common sense use of self isolation can stop spread when it begins before the first symptoms are noticed or when there are no symptoms. I often feel like much of the media is motivated to create confusion or alarm rather than inform and report information relative to this pandemic.

People don't even have common sense not to spread it when they have symptoms. I was in line at the pharmacy and the lady in front of me was like "When can I get the covid vaccine? I just left the hospital and they said I have it so I have to wait before I can get it". then when the employee asked when she would be back to pick up the scripts she said "Oh I don't need them for a few days, they gave me enough to last a few days so I could go home and isolate. I just wanted to drop them off so they'd be ready". Oh and she was actively coughing and hacking. SMH. All I could think about was all the poor immunocompromised people she probably infected just in that one store alone.
QuoteIf I guessed I would say 75-80% of the surgeons & doctors I work with say that the mask mandates do not work and they are not too sure about the vaccines.
Would you have surgery performed in an OR where the surgeon and anesthesiologist had everybody in the room unmasked?

Naked man drops a duce, unmasked man smells the duce.
Dressed man drops a duce in his pants, unmasked man still smells the duce.

If you cannot tell the difference in size and diffusion between airborne droplets and aromatic gases, then you lack credibility for using that as an exemplar. Care to play again? Or have you contracted airborne E. coli or other fecal diseases from smelling them?

E. coli is spread by contact not an airborne and you talk about my credibility. So care to play again?

Personal after deploying and serving with NATO forces.

Precisely my point, sort of— most E. coli spread is fecal-oral, so just touching feces with intact skin doesn’t infect you.
You compared two memes attempting to show that since others can smell the guy with the dirty pants that was like the guy peeing in his pants who doesn’t get anyone else wet. Obviously not true, as evidence by the fact that odors don’t spread disease but droplets do; you wear a mask to prevent spreading your droplets as well as to prevent inhaling someone else’s droplets.
I took this as your attempt to justify everyone not wearing masks but forgive me if I misread you.

Yes. Just look at Europe were only the surgeon and tech wear masks.
This is England. You will note all personnel in the theatre are masked, not just the ones scrubbed in.

Stay home if sick as evidenced by Sneezing, Coughing, Fever, or Diarrhea. No mask will take the place of common sense. I wash my hands often, use sanitizer on gas pumps/shopping carts, and test employees from their vehicle (why bring them in to be tested and risk possible exposure by coming inside the building). I'm sure there is a lot of spread via contacted surfaces even if you are wearing a mask. Any PPE is only effective as the user. I doubt if the average person knows how to use it effectively! How many people read the instructions or received an In-Service. To quote a Comedian I heard once, "In the 1950's the user manual for a vehicle told you how to adjust the valve timing now the user manual tells you not to drink the contents of the battery."
