Hiya all this is my first time on here, I am a RN &RM passed NCLEX,VisaScreen, I-140 and awaiting US embassy(london) interview. But I wish to know what exactly happens at the interviews & medicals and what if you have a pre-existing medical condition(ie Diabetes). As I am anxiously waiting !!!! Does anyone know or can enlighten me!!! Thanks
it was june 2004 when we had our medicals done, but took as much info from the gp, had titres for everything done and a mantoux from occupational health at the hospital where I worked. even with all that diptheria ,had been missed out so had to pay for a tetorifice/diptheria as it was only a combined one that they had. had to pay for the same for hubby as he wasnt up to date with his tetorifice. it can be costly for a family if you dont get the tests done prior to going, as without proof they presume that you need the vaccinations. not sure
about the kids hep b status but they definitely need them so the sooner that you start the better. all immunisations are mandatory over here and the kids cant go to school without proof.
the embassy interview and the medical worried us but they arent really anything to worry about. so long as you have all the paperwork and copies of everything its a doddle! we left the uk 2 weeks after our interviews.
good luck to everyone anyway. I cant believe that we went through what you are all waiting for, it seems like a long time ago.

Hi went for medicals todaywas there for4 hours! they wanted proof of all vaccines the children were all fine but they wanted proof of MMR vaccine(i had these all in childhood but had no proof Didn't think they wanted that far back) silly me! had to have MMR(£65) and then they do want Drs/consultant reports if you have pre-existing conditions(so have now faxed that to them )had x-ray & bloods for HIV & Syphillis. A very tiresome day-children passed and I'm still awaiting my results- will know next week(now am very very anxious)
Well an update from me.
Went to Embassy yesterday.
Joined the queue outside at 10.30 appointment at 11 were moved to the 11.oo line and went through security. Hand in cameras, laptops and mobiles off. Take a ticket for immigrant visa we were no 22 and there were 6 in front of us in our queue took about 1 1/2 hrs.
Saw a lovely lady who went through all the paperwork they had including the medicals and checked off all the other papers we had to bring. That took half a hour as there were the four lots for us and the children.
Sat down to wait for interview and that took 2 hours as advised. A nive offical said oh a nurse with OGP no problems here, fingerprints, got us to sign the forms and welcomed us to the USA advised what to do at the airport when we arrived and was all over in 10 minutes. No questions at all.
My tips would be take reading material and take food and drink, there are sandwiches, snack and drinks available but expensive. I am so glad I didn't take our children they would have been so bored.
We are finally off now on the 23rd. A busy week ahead now........

Thanks for spotting that i didnt notice that. My little one is almost 4 and I could just imagine the wait with her. So is it as sue said that it is because you have medical first now stops us having to take kiddies?
