:rotfl: Hi all! I went for my interview today at 9am and was successful and was out by 10am.I took my 14yr old with me as she had to do her fingerscan and sign her application form.

Got to embassey early(was there for 8am and went in at 8.45am) and was ticket no.1 for immigrant visa.(so get there early) was called within 10 mins, got to the booth, imm.officer(man) checked file and original documents(please put them in the order stated in packet 4)and make a copy of all documents for immigration to keep, we signed our photos, paid the excess $45 fees(as fees had gone up since April) and then went back to seats, and waited for our names to be called.10 mins later the second imm.officer(man) then took our fingerscan, asked me what type of nursing i would be doing in the USA and basically told us that we had our visas, what the procedure is at the airport in the USA once we arrived(temporary green card issued-full green card sent/given after3months) it was over in 15 mins. He said welcome to the USA and we joined the queue for the courier service. I am soo excited now:p , i called all friends and family and am off to relax now. I wish everybody "Good Luck" in their travels. I'll keep in touch when I reach to Naples,Florida:)

Congratulations - see you in Florida when I eventually get there :)

Well good to hear the visas are being granted. I am now starting to settle after just over 2 weeks here in the USA. It has been hectic and all very new and mind boggling but so far I like my hospital in CT and they are very helpfull and freindly.

It id so hot too 90 and freezing in the air conditioned places but this is definatley what we wanted!

Hello. My papers are for consulate processing. I believe medical and interview will not be long now. Just want to ask for help. I want to know if you went to your own GP on your medical or the Embassy will instruct you where to go. Are they requiring up to date vaccine/ titres record or April 2002 report will be fine? Do you think I need to ask my GP now for vaccine like Hep. B to start for my hubby and 1 year old child? What are the immunizations they require? Sorry, I have lots of queries. However, your response will be a big help for me, very much appreciated... Thanks and goodluck to your relocation to USA.

Hi went for medicals todaywas there for4 hours! they wanted proof of all vaccines the children were all fine but they wanted proof of MMR vaccine(i had these all in childhood but had no proof Didn't think they wanted that far back) silly me! had to have MMR(£65) and then they do want Drs/consultant reports if you have pre-existing conditions(so have now faxed that to them )had x-ray & bloods for HIV & Syphillis. A very tiresome day-children passed and I'm still awaiting my results- will know next week(now am very very anxious)

You will need to have proof of a much more recent TB skin test for sure.

I have a medical booked in Edinburgh, the week after our Embassy interview (couldn't get one before- we live in Somerset and this was the first available). Do you know what happens in this case. Does the Nuffield send the medical report to the embassy and do we have do visit again to get our passports stamped? Also I have type 2 diabetes and hypertension, which are both well controlled. Do these pre-existing conditions have to be verified by my GP? Could I take something to the medical to pre-empt this requirement? Thanks in advance for any help. I have managed to get this far (taken 2 1/2 years with many stumbles along the way) and don't want to fall at the last hurdle. Sue.

Hi,

Sorry to ask but couldnt you go to London, Edinburgh seems so far away. I believe you have to have your medical prior to US embassy interview you need to phone embassy and let them know your problem. Oh yes almost forgot either a heaf test or mantoux test result, which for me has proved impossible because the testing vaccine has been withdrawn off shelves by government and they are going to be starting testing again in oct. I believe it is going to be mantoux testing rather than heaf and that half the nurses have had the training. I am going to Harley Street on tues to pay privately for the mantoux test. You need to have this test done prior to medical chest xray. Most Uk nurses will prove positive for TB as we have all had BCG's, so then we have to fill in paperwork with a GP ect to state good health. If you do not have your matoux/heaf test done prior to US medical and chest xray then you will have to have repeat chest xray after the test if it tests positive, ehich of course it is going to.

You will need all titres which include Chicken pox, measles, mumps, rubella, Hep B. I believe pre existing conditions providing they are not contagious are ok.

Hope I helped

Kay

Hi re. medicals you may need to see if the London Nuffield Hospital can fit you in sooner , if not contact the embassey ASAP to tell them your medical is post your interview. They may not issues visas until medical repors have been recieved. Re diabetes/BP get a Drs reports indicating HBA1C,Bp, eyes check, reflexes, medication, etc & appointments for last 6-12months(get report/letter from your GP or clinic consultant(consultant may be easier and they won't charge, your GP may charge you!)take report to medical appt.

Make sure your immunisations are upto date-HepB,MMR, tetorifice etc at the medicals you will have chest X-Ray(TB) and bloods taken for HIV(adults only). They will check your eyesight also, so take any glasses/contact lenses.

If you need more info let me know and if i think of anything else i'll let you know:idea:

Hi I have been in Florida nearly 4 weeks now and so far so good! Firstly:

immigration at the airport is SLOW(3hrs wait) so tell anyone picking you up not to come too early! All they do is check your paperwork from embassey and take fingerprints.

Social Security No. is taking upto 6weeks to be sent so you maynot start work immediately. And you cannot do anything without SSN.

Open a bank account asap(i had one previously for about 4 years now)

To Register children in school if in florida you will need to get a physical done for them and immunisations transferred onto their DOH Blue Forms before they can start.

Anyway all is good, I passed my driving tests(written practical), children are in school and making friends(they are the youngest in their years as the UK education is way way ahead)

Weather is good although 1 hurricane scare already, and probably more to come!

My hospital is good so far, and people seem friendly.

I have just re read my information re medicals and US embassy interview, and it says you cannot interview unless you have had your medical at least two weeks prior, to allow for any test results.

Did you delay in applying for medical? I was under the impression that you had plenty of notice for Green Card interview, to allow for your medical?

Hi,

They expect you to have your medical at the NUffield private clinics it costs around £175 per adult and £135 per child. I was advised to have all titres done in preparation and no 2002 are no good for HEP B titres, make sure you get proof of your chicken pox immunity.

The Nuffield centres I believe are in London, Edinburgh and Birmingham

No the medicals are literally 1 weeks prior to interviews(when I had my medicals) my friend had his medical and interview 1 weeks apart only 2 weeks ago. And we had to go back and collect medical reports to take to the embassey. But I think there was always delays with the medicals and the embassey are aware of this. therefore contact the embassey and Nuffield hospital and make them aware and rearrange your medical and or interview- but it may delay things by a couple of weeks/months
