Hi
From what I can gather, medicals have changed and you have it I believe up to 2 weeks before your interview, been taken over by Nufield and they have centres at London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. London I think I have read somewhere has only just started doing the medicals and they might have a bit of a queue. I shouldn't think a pre existing medical condition will affect your medical but may have an impact on your health insurance in the US.
From the interview side of things I have been adviced to get photocopies of everything needed for the interview ie birth certificate ect as they will keep the copies. Also been told the interview isn't too bad.
I am just waiing to get approval so good luck in getting this far, when did you start your process and where are you going?

thanks for that info!!
I originally started everything by myself 2001, then sat nclex 2002&2003(passed), did my visa screen, got my CA licence& florida endorsement(RN&RMidwife). then aprroached hospitals who basically told me to join an agency-so I did in May 2004 the agency has done everything else:emplyment offer,USCIS,I-140.(they are very good I have recommended them to all my family and friends who are RN&Midwifes) Now just waiting:rolleyes:

I am a RN and RM but returned to nursing because advised I wouldnt be able to get employment in US as midwife. So what agency are you going with?
That is true you can't work as an RM only an obstetric nurse in US. but I still applied for my RM licence in CA(i was surprised I got it). Like you I am now doing specialised nursing(had to get out of midwifery-unsociable hours , on-calls, demanding women-but i love midwifery as a profession!!! )
I am with Stateside nursing agency- they have been v good so far. what agency r u with?

Gosh i so aggree with you re midwifery :) I am with OGP which doesnt have great press on here, has gone very smoothly up to now, but I feel our biggest frustration is not knowing til nearly ready to go where we will be living. i am not bothered where we go but would like to know soon so we can set up employment for my hubby.
Oh don't OGP tell you what state you're going? what speciality are u going into then-medical/surgical,oncology...etc??? and you could get the graveyard shifts!!! I have been offered a 9-5 job which suits me just fine(got 2 children) and no weekends!! The hours are ideal, better than here!!!
No not to date they have suggested Phoenix. Yes I imagine I am doing night duty :uhoh21:

I am with OGP long process (started July 03) but nearly there. I am going for the medical in the next couple of weeks and have the embassy on the 13th May then Travel over to Connecticut on the 23rd May to start my PICU job on 6th June.
I will let you know what happens.
