UTA AO BSN Fall 2019

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Hi Guys. Any recommendations or tips appericated. I will apply to UTA ao bsn for fall of 2019, I should apply with a 3.0 regular gpa and either a 3.0 or 3.25 science gpa. I have 3 considerations: 30 or more hours, all science hours and am partnered with a hospital. Also my hesi scores are decent, going to try and up that grade. What are my chances of getting in?

They go off the TEAS test now not HESI. So the way the scoring is, take your GPA and add it to your science GPA, then each consideration is .5 points. And for the partenered hospital you will be in a separate applicant pool or other employess vs all the non partnered people. So your score would be a 7 or 7.25 and typically you need a full 8 to be considered "competitive". I'm not sure how being partnered will affect your acceptance. But I would recommend applying to another school as a back up option, I am currently on the waitlist for the Spring 2019 AO BSN. Good luck!!

Hi DarbyC13!

I got accepted into the AO Spring '19 program, and I'm pretty sure being partnered has A LOT to do with it. I also had a previous degree from UTA, but my GPA wasn't as high as a lot of other applicants (some of which got wait-listed). My total points did not even add up to 8. That being said, don't worry too much about comparing stats with other applicants! I'm saying this because it stressed me out, personally, even more than not knowing what everyone else's GPA looked like lol. The three considerations will definitely help but I think being partnered is like a golden ticket. Of course, it all really depends on the applicant pool for that semester. And if you wanted you could retake a few classes to boost your GPA, too.

If you were enrolled at UTA prior to Fall 17 you can use your HESI scores, which I was able to do. Otherwise you would have to take the TEAS.

Best of luck! And whatever you do, don't give up! :) It's definitely possible.

I was accepted into the AO and on campus program. I my total score, including 3 considerations, was a 8. I am not partnered. I would say that you have a chance at getting in, for sure. I was almost positive that I would only get into the on campus program, IF ANYTHING, because it's so competitive.

best of luck to you!! :)

Question when you mean you were able to submit your hesi scores does that mean you were accepted as a student at uta and they allowed it? I graduated from uta fall 2017 so of course I was accepted before fall 2017? Just wanted to get confirmation.

Yes, I graduated in 2016. I called/e-mailed the nursing department just to verify I could use my HESI scores, though.

I emailed them but more than likely I will call them today :) thank you!

I applied for the online program. The waiting is killing me! When I met with an advisor she said they accept around 180 students. She also said my stats look like what they have in the past, but it may be different this year since we were only allowed to apply for the online or campus based program and not both. Everyone keep us posted please!

have you heard of anyone else getting into AO with a total score of 8? I'm trying for Fall 2020.

@Chelsea S. I got in AO this round with a 7.547. I was originally waitlisted until early June, then put on the alternate list for a few weeks, then I was accepted. So I think you are in good shape. If you get waitlisted, just be patient, there are still people being called off even now. Best of luck!

For those of you who were accepted into the online BSN program was there an interview conducted?
