Underwear question

Published

What kind of underwear do you guys wear under your scrubs? I just got into clinicals and was wondering what brand and style you guys where that stay put and don't ride up! Thanks

Health Assessment "lab" 1998. 1 male and 17 female nursing students of all ages between 21 and 47 (me) and all sizes stripped to underwear and johnnies to practice physical exams. Lo and behold- 8 out 0f 17 students wearing Victoria Secret cotton panties! Who knew? This I had to investigate! After an acquisition trip to my local mall, I did some in-depth testing...Six years later I am a firm convert. They are near indestructable, don't "dig" at the waist or leg, and don't ride up or down. A nurse has enough to think about during the workday without that sort of distraction!

Was there a pillow fight? Because I've been in nursing school for a year and a half, and we've yet to have a pillow fight in our underwear! In the movies, nursing students have pillow fights in their underwear. Frankly, I'm disappointed.

Nothing like reaching in and slinging that baby out like a marlin over a boat rail. Who said visual imagery doesn't work? Ok, let's eat turkey!

HAHAHAHA LMAO :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

6 years in PACU never witnessed/heard of a split. :imbar

Work or not, i feel more comfortable without wearing an underwear. Thought you'd like to know. :rotfl: I still keep it professional too. :p

All these Victoria secrets thong stories will keep me guessing for the day now. :uhoh3:

I hope you guys know what i'm talking about but I wear the bootie short kind (they are like little shorts...kinda) they are low rise so they don't show over the waist, and don't have big underwear lines. I'm also scared that sometimes scrubs can split so they will not show my @$$ to the world.

but that is just my choice.

I know just what you're talking about, they're my favorite! They're really comfortable and they don't ride up. :) I agree with AllenJ, I like to go without any, but not at work, especially under white pants!!!

I also had a pair of scrub pants split one time, that was really embarrassing!!!! :crying2:

At work I always weart V.S. colored panties, but can't do the thong my butt has gotten a little bit to big for an intentional wedgie. :p At clinicals I wear white, since our uniforms are white. Oh, the light pink does not always go unnoticed under white!:imbar

This is a common topic of discussion. As a person who is not a nurse, I find the whole issue rather puzzling. Since most white nursing outfits are see-through, and few people in general society wear see-through clothing, why are they requiring nurses to do so? If they do not like your choice of underwear (or lack thereof), then they should not have you wearing see-through clothing.

As an illustration of just how odd this practice seems to me, I will tell you that I am a Joan Jett fan. While some people wear "relaxed-fit" clothing, Joan's clothing tends toward the "anatomically-correct" fit. However, when she wears a white shirt in a video, it is not see-through. So why are you being asked to wear clothing that even Joan Jett does not wear?

There is something sexy about nursing. I think the whole Florence Nightingale thing still looms around. LOL

Seriously speaking i cannot answer your question, most nurses in the UK don't wear whites and i can assure you their uniform is far from sexy, very conservative.

A word of warning about see-thru whites: you can't turn your undies inside-out and wear them again. Well, you can, but you shouldn't.

Agreed and thank God for it. Sometimes I think its all that keeps me coming back.

Upon entering nursing I was pleasantly suprised to see ( and we can see) how many women can and do wear thong.

When I was in school and forced to wear whites (a good idea for students BTW) I wore loud stripped boxers which got quite a bit of attention strangely enough..

Now I wear cotten/spandex type bicycle shorts (black).

Speaking of thongs now I know what to buy mrs 11 for one of her Christmas gifts (victorias secret thongs). Just about the only undies she wears are thong but she often complains about the quality of manufacture-

Thanks
