  1. I'm a new RN with 2 years exp. as an LPN. I went to the hospital when I graduated and became an RN...but have just taken a job in LTC, haven't started yet. I'm on the southeastern side of the state and will be making $2 more an hour than what I was making as a base rate at the hospital. However, it's a charge nurse position and i'm on call. I will be doing admissions, discharges, and a lot of other things. The LPN does the med passes. Job responsibilities really depend on the facility. Somedays will be slower than others where you may have some down time to spend with residents. I worked in LTC when I was an LPN for about a year and enjoyed it...but left due to management, etc. It's nice because you get to know your residents and they know you....some of the residents you may get close to which can be hard when they pass away. LTC can be a good place to get supervisory experience and move up into management, etc, which I think is the route I want to go. Good luck in what you decide! You can always PM me if you want.
  2. Urbane now makes their classic crossover top with 2 pockets and 3 inches longer then the original. http://www.scrubsandbeyond.com/product/brand_name_medical_scrubs/urbane_medical_scrubs/urbane-scrubs-longer-length-scrub-top.do
  3. Just an FYI. She will be updating with some scrubs from the Fall collection Tuesday or Wednesday. :)
  4. http://stores.ebay.com/FREE-SHIPPING-SCRUBS-AND-MORE Hopefully the link works!
  5. I always wear dickies. I've been buying brand new ones on Ebay. There's a store on their that only sells Dickies. She will get you what you want if she doesn't have it. Free shipping too. I am thinking of trying the Urbane scrubs though, they are cute. I usually wear prints, but looking for something different. Dickies are nice and comfy though.
  6. My boyfriend went with me. I didn't want to go alone. It was a 5+ hour drive and he helped keep me sane!
  7. Wow, that was quick!! Good luck! You'll have RN behind your name soon enough!!
  8. I just took a job thats 30 miles one way...takes about 45-50 minutes. The drive stinks and i have like 5 hospitals that are closer...but I wanted to work in the ICU.
  9. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother unexpectedly in November and my brother unexpectedly in April. You'll pull through this. If you need to reschedule, there is nothing wrong with that. You do what you need to do during this time. My prayers are with you.
  10. I think there were 7 of us the date I tested. Everyone was still there on Sunday. Another girl and I were out by around 9:30ish, so I'm not really sure who ended up passing, except the 2 of us.
  11. Woohoo!! I tested in Utica back in March. Great experience! The CE's and CA were wonderful. They were really encouraging and you could tell they wanted you to succeed. The hospital is older, so their isn't much as far as electronic equipment. You may end up having to do a manual BP on all your PCS's. I got lucky and only had to do the first manual BP and was able to get a dynamap for the other 2. Know your critical elements and keep your nerves in check! I took a half of a half of ativan each day, lol! Even though it was a tiny bit, I think it helped somewhat. Even if it was only in my head! lol Good luck! You'll do great! Oh, the rooms have hand gel outside the room and then there's some in the room along with the sinks.
  12. Sorry about your interview! How rude of her to take a call during your interview. Hopefully your interview tomorrow will go much better. I had interviewed at a well known hospital last week and they called me Friday to inform me that I didn't get the internship. Of course I was disappointed, but then the recruiter goes on to tell me that the thing with the ICU's is that they want more clinical experience than I received at Excelsior College, umm hello!!! I've been an LPN for 2.5 years, that's more than a new grad would have! Then he goes on to tell me I should apply for their acute care internship in August. No thank you. I started a job Monday for a position in the ICU. The hourly wage is less, but with the sign on bonus and loan repayment, it equals out to more. Not that the pay is everything and they obviously don't discriminate against Excelsior College. The drive sure does stink though! Anyways...good luck!
  13. Now you have the ridiculous wait for the CPNE. You could still get done a little sooner or about the same time you would have with a traditional school though.
  14. Way to go!! Congrats!!! :yeah: By the way, I felt exactly the same way after my LPN boards. I thought I had failed, but I think everyone thinks that. Now i'm about ready to sit for my RN boards...just waiting for my ATT. Congrats again!
  15. Very true. They should be including the hotel room for that price!
