Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

Thank you afowler77, I just did not want to wait any longer.. but I am just so lost right now. If you don't mind me asking, what did you do during the semesters that you did not get in? Have you been working?

I know this is probably a weird question I'm about to ask. But has anyone who sent in their deposit and confirmation paper happen to take a picture of it? I did it fairly quickly and already sent it off but I can't remember for the life of me if I checked the right box that says I accept or not. I'm like 85% sure I did but I just need piece of mind you know? Lol if anybody could provide that THANK YOU! If not I guess I'll just have an anxiety attack until I see they processed it lol :(

p.s I just want to see how the bottom looks with the boxes and stuff lol

I wouldn't be concerned as long as you enclosed the deposit. I'm sure they will assume that you have accepted the offer or they will call for confirmation.

Hi everyone!

Anyone going to be working while being a full time student? I know it's not recommended, but I know I'm going to try to work at least a little. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on what kinds of part-time jobs would be good for nursing students?? Sorry if this was already asked and answered!

Thanks!

@Nay11 I took a picture of the confirmation, but I'm not sure whether it is acceptable/appropriate for me to post a picture of it online. However, at the bottom first there are checkboxes to indicate which semester you will be enrolling in. Next are checkboxes for part-time or full-time. There is no checkbox for not accepting admission, but there is a blank space for indicating why admission is not being accepted. Hope that helps. FWIW, I'm sure if you enclosed the deposit they will assume you are accepting the seat. If there is anything wrong with the way you completed the form, I would expect them to contact you to get a correctly completed form. I don't think they'd give your seat away.

Thank you so much! I now know I did it correctly whew! I was doing things so fast I couldn't remember lol

Hi Ladies! Congrats on everyone that made it into the program! My husband and I may be getting stationed to Ft. Meade so I was thinking about applying to UMSON for next fall(I'm considering Bowie and Coppin as well). I noticed in the forums many of you said you emailed much of your application. Is everything done online, including recommendation letters?

Looking at all the required prereqs I may even have to wait to apply for Spring 2016 even though I'll have an AS in general studies. Thanks for any info!

One more thing, what sections of the TEAS were required. I know normally they require the Math and English part and some college want Science as well.

My advice, if you're going to work, is to have a job that allows downtime for studying.

@muldrowtl. Make sure you check out the MDBON'S website for 2013's NCLEX Pass Rates. If memory serves me well I think Bowie's were terrible. Coppin's were aprox. 79%. UMSON was 96% (for comparison).

@vigor145, I was just checking them tonight and I cringed a little bit when I saw them. So I'm pushing for UMSON with Bowie as a backup.

@muldrowtl. Coppin State is pretty much in my backyard.............well, down the street a bit!! When I was considering different options, I spoke with a few ladies I used to work with that go there. Their nursing school has come a long way and is getting better every year. The school is small, which I liked. I would have also applied there, but they only have one admission session in the Spring of each year.

Had I not gotten into UMSON and my second choice I was accepted into as well, I would have reapplied in the Spring, along with Coppin.

I'll look more into their program as well. I also saw their pass rates and it was along the same as Bowie's. And Im kind of nervous with them both being in Baltimore:(. Traffic and all.
