UMSON Spring 2015

Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

I just did the drug test today. Just the old pee in a cup thing lol. Surprisingly easy and I didn't have to pay anything extra when I took it. Got it done in like 10 minutes and the lab people said they would take care of mailing the results and things.

@kirstens.......did you get to pick the lab or did they? I am hoping the lab will be open on Saturday. It is very hard with working full time to get away to do this stuff. And I don't leave my job until Dec 18th!!

It has to be done through labcorp. They have locations all over I think. The one I went to is closed on the weekends I think. However, there is one in Laurel thats open on Saturdays and they take appointments.

My paper also said my deadline for this was in march so I wouldn't sweat it

futureRN1913 don't lose hope! I wonder if you can call and see if they are still working on acceptances?

Thanks for the info, kirstens! I happened to look at the pdf that they provided on the website and found the answer to my question earlier though! Scheduled an appointment for next Wednesday. I'm glad they are covering the cost! Now all there is to do is that (heh) and scanning the immunizations and bloodwork results. Easy enough!

Also, anyone else started the scholarship application? I was at the dentist this afternoon looking at it when it dawned on me that I'm actually going to be attending classes at the Shady Grove campus! I couldn't hold in my excitement, and I'm sure the people in the waiting room thought I was reading a lovey-dovey text message from a man or something. Haha! I just can't believe we're finally going to start!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!

I just checked but I was waitlisted. I don't know why. I have a gpa of 3.79 science gpa of 4.0, healthcare experience and volunteer work too. I'm very disappointed, but I guess I have to wait

I just checked an hour ago and saw that I was wait listed as well! @Abby there is still HOPE hang in there!!

Thanks @Betibee3. We know we did our part. And your right there is still HOPE. I just don't want to think about it anymore. Seems like they put a lot of people on waitlist anyways.

Hey guys! I have been following this page for a while and my status finally changed online. I want to congratulate everyone who has gotten in so far! I know you will all become great nurses. I got wait listed the wait has been driving me crazy so finding out I have to wait even more is killing me! I applied to the nursing program at my community college (FCC) and I found out I got accepted there this past Saturday! I really want to get my BSN as I already have an Associate's Degree.. I am praying to the school gods that someone gives up their seat and I get accepted, but I also wish everyone else could get accepted too!

I also called the Admissions Office today and they said they are still working on notifying everyone of their application statuses. They will hopefully be done by the end of this week. They seem to be super busy since previous posts said the same thing for the past few weeks. Does anyone know when the deadline is for accepted students?

@fitkitty it's 14 days after the postmark date on the acceptance letter. It seems like they just put everyone whose status didn't change on waitlist. My friends who got a response today were all waitlisted.

Most people I know have said their letters are dated Nov 10th. So next week yall could know!
