Hello everyone! I may be a little early with this, but here's a new post for all of you hoping to apply this September 2nd for the Spring 2015 semester at UMSON. You can post questions you have, helpful advice you would like to give (if you're already in the program), etc.

I specifically have a question for those who have already applied to the Spring 2014 semester and got in. When you applied last September, when in November did you get your acceptance letter in the mail? Was it the beginning, middle, or toward the end of November? I'm asking this because the other nursing school I am applying to only gives a 3-week time period after the end of October (when they let you know if you made it in or not) to accept or decline enrollment. So, if I don't make it into UMSON, I'd want to be able to give this other nursing school an answer before the 3-week time period runs out.

Congrats, AP123! The wait is finally over! I'm so happy for you!!! :D

Hi! i was wondering if you could answer some of my questions since you were accepted into umb! what was your GPA for science and overall?? Also do you know what your classmates scores were? thank you!

Some people seem unwilling to share this information, so I'm not sure how much of a response you'll get...

The admission requirements on the website are: Overall GPA >= 3.0, Science GPA >= 3.0, and TEAS score >= 70%.

If you are above those numbers, you should be a competitive candidate.

Congrats guys on your admission! I'm still here waiting lol I got a call from Ms. Priyanka yesterday and my heart stopped.. but it was only to return a voice mail I left her a week ago. She said there's only a handful of decisions left so hopefully I'll know something by Friday.

Thank you! i was confused because ive seen threads on here that said people were concerned that their gpa of a 3.7 wasnt going to be high enough....

Really, it would depend on who else applies that semester. If everyone else that applies has a 3.7 and you have a 3.0... then yes, you might have an issue. Realistically though, that won't happen. GPAs are likely to fall all across the board, probably more falling into the middle range than above or below. Of course the higher your GPA the better you look, but I'm sure they also take a look at your resume, your history as a student, your healthcare experience, etc. They're looking at the whole package, not just one single number.

Thank you! i have done alot of volunteer work and summer nursing internships so hopefully they see that. I NEED TO GET IN!!! very stressful but exciting. Thank you hegster!

Specializes in NICU.

I wouldn't get too caught up in other ppl gpas and test scores like Hegster said..try to do the best that YOU can do ...obviously if you do have a 4.0 and outstanding TEAS scores that will make you a better candidate ..but as long as you have the min requirements you are still in the running and at least being considered.

I was wait listed and I'm planning to retake my TEAS that's the only thing I'm not confident about. I took it while I was pregnant and didn't score as well. I thought it would be easy, I scored all A in my sciences except Chemistry (B) and an A in Algebra and Statistics so when I got my scores back and saw an overall 70% I was a bit taken a back. I didn't complete the Math section and guessed on about 15 questions but I'm actually studying now and plan to take it Jan.15th

ive had healthcare experience and my essay was looked over by more than one person so let's hope if I do not start in the spring I will start in the fall. I'm still moving fwd with a checklist of getting things done as if I would start this semester. Congrats to all who got accepted

Wow, I've been offline for a bit, but congrats to everyone else who's gotten in - especially littlemango and afowler! I'm excited we're all going to be classmates. I've gotten my call, but I haven't gotten my formal letter/packet yet, and I still need to join the facebook group. I'll have to do that tonight!

I posted this on the FB group.......I got my letter yesterday, so they should be on the way if you haven't gotten yours yet!!!
